Us Flag Question

IS IT A LAW THAT IF THE FLAG IS LEFT OUT AT NIGHT ON GOVERNMENT PROPERTY THAT IT HAS TO HAVE A LIGHT SHINING ON IT ?

COURT HOUSE, SCHOOL & SO ON.

Yes.

I think anytime it's left out over night no matter where it's suppose to have a light on it.

I WAS THINKIN THAT THE FLAG HAD TO HAVE A LIGHT ON IT. THE COURT HOUSE WHERE I LIVE LEAVES THE FLAG OUT AT NIGHT WITH OUT A LIGHT ON IT & IT DRIVES ME NUTS !! I'M GOING TO SAY SOMETHING TO THEM ABOUT THIS BUT I WANT TO MAKE SURE I GOT MY DUCKS IN A ROW BEFORE I DO.

it's gotta have a light on it after dark,and it must b the highest flag on a flagplole,if you don't want to buy a light bring her down and fold her up every night and don't let it touch the ground,oohrah,give em hell don't let em pull that kinda shi*,We stilll live in America,****-it!!

And if your flag starts looking worn or tattered you are supposed to burn it correct?
There is a guy in our neighborhood that makes a big show of flying Old Glory, but he puts one out and leaves it for months on end- it gets so torn and tattered that it is just a shame. It stays out every night unlit also.
I have two older flags that I would like to fly more often, but I don't have the self discipline to make sure that I put them away every night. So they are stored away neatly.

If you want to properly dispose of our old flags check with your local Boy Scouts. I know all the local troops celebrate Flag Day by the removal and replacement of flags flown at various Veteran Memorial Parks in our area. Our troop also retire flags for the public. The process is very specific. Flags must be torn and not cut. Flags must be torn in a specfic order. Then all pieces are burned.

There are resons for leaveing flags up some times. I raise a new one when my son leaves for war and it don't come down till he gets home. I don't care what kind of shape it is in when he gets here. Then a friend in the VFW takes it and disposes of it at there anual flag buring ceremony.
I allso bought a casket flag at a flee market once that was wadded up on a table. It had belonged to a relitive of the guy selling it. I made him help me fold it. Then I took it home and flew it till it was in pretty sad shape and gave it to the same friend to dispose of. Some times it is to honor the soldier.

According to the Anthem, it was only lit up by the rocket's red glare and the bombs bursting til the dawns early light.

any time no matter where the great flag flies it is required by law to have a light shining on it when at night..

That's right, Eagle 1. ANYTIME our national symbol flies at night it is to be lit. When it is tattered (ANYTIME) it is to be removed and destroyed properly. When posted it is to be posted to the right of the speaker(the left of the audience as they look at the speaker.) There is blood of honor spilled for our flag. Proper customs and courtesies toward it should be exhibited at all times as some of us take the pride of our flag quite seriously. God and Country. The bible is the symbol for one and the flag is the symbol for the other. Both should be treated with the utmost of respect.
