Vannie Griggs Memorial Fund & Hunt

As most of you know, we lost a good man this week. Alot has been said already about the type man Vannie was. He would give you the shirt off his back, would not ask for a thing in return and wouldn't take help if you offered it. Vannie and me had become best friends over the last several years and it only seems appropriate to share a little with everyone and give you all an opportunity to be part of something to help out.

Due to circumstances beyond his control, Vannie left this world with no insurance or reserve cash. There is still a mortgage and bills to pay on a regular basis for Kathy and unfortunately, she is unable to work.

We are not asking for anyone to show anything other than Compassion and Love toward one of our fellow members and comrads, should you feel it in your heart to help out. The ones of us who knew Vannie well, know that he wouldn't ask for this, but he would have been the first one to step up for any of our families to help out.

Russ Bellar and me had a lengthy conversation about this a little while ago. The initial plan is to create a fund to pay for Funeral Arrangements and help Kathy financially until things improve for her. Once all this is taken care of, we will be organizing a Benefit Hunt to be held sometime within the next few months. This hunt will be held in Indiana in order to allow Vannies family and local hunters to easily participate.

We can not take the pain and sorrow away that the family feels at this time. However, we can make sure that the financial burden is lifted for them. This may only be $5, nothing is too small. A few thousand members uniting together changes things. Please donate what you feel in your heart, as we join together to help.

Russ has agreed to receive all donations and forward them to Kathy.

Please forward your donations of love to:

Russ Bellar
1248 Striker Road
Peru, Indiana 46970

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read and participate in this opportunity

Guys, at this time, the best thing we know that can be done, if anybody feels it in their heart to do so is this.

Fold a piece of paper and write Vannie on it, put a $20 bill or whatever you feel moved to do and can afford, put it in an envelope and mail to Russ Bellar. Russ will make sure it is given to Kathy.

Anyone who can give even 5 bucks would be most apreciated.

this coonhunters widow needs our help, lets make sure we do what we can.
I know times are hard and extra cash is hard to come by, but surely everyone who reads this can skip one lunch, or cut back 1 can of skoal or pack of smokes this week and send the savings to vannies widow out of respect for him.
step up folks, lets do this.

Donation to Vannie's family

We had a club meeting Sunday evening at the Grant Co. Coonhunters Assn. and passed the hat and the club donated as well. We will be sending the money today.
I challenge all clubs if they have the means, to contribute to this family in need for a great and kind man. I know of several clubs in Indiana that have a substantial amount of money and what better cause than to give to someone in need?
I have always said that coon hunter's were the most generous people on this earth and Vannie Griggs was amongst them. I am a member of three clubs and have a meeting at another tonight. I will challenge them as well to help in anyway.

I was shocked to find out while at B&T Days that Vanny had passed. I didn't know him personally like many of you but whenever we spoke on the phone he was always very good to talk with. One thing he always said before hanging up with him was "if I can help you in any way; just call me". I did in fact call on him last year one time for Autumn Oaks. And as promised, he helped me out.

I just talked to him on the phone several weeks ago and he ended the conversation in the same way. I guess it's now my turn to help him out.
