got ticketed last night go figure

i was hunting last night with tim cowell caleb haner and charles hooper we were hunting a mile out of town in some corn dogs struck and treed about a hundred yards behind a house tim said he had permission. we shot the coon out aand a lady started yelling that we were trespassing. we payed her no mind and recast further down then bout 10 minutes latter we see three cars pull in her drive. tim went up to settle it. we got the dogs and headed back to the truck a dnr checked us and ticketed me for having an un cased gun in the truck even though the case was laying by it. i left it in there cause tim brought his. ny how they called the owners and sure enough we had permission. the dnr was a prick and should have let me slide o well guess i'll have to shoot a hundred coons to pay it

I believe the law says it must be in a case and zipped up. It can't even be un -zipped in Michigan any more.

Posted by K.Hanses on 11-14-2009 02:57 PM:

My buddy got in trouble because his gun was within reach of him in his driver's seat. Even though it was cased, zipped, no clip, and the shells were in his tool box.

That's just flat out ridiculous. Sounds like the Nuge needs to get on 'em up there.

You might check

I am not 100% sure on Michigans laws but a good way around that would be if Michigan issues concealed carry permits. If they do get one then you can carry a gun locked and loaded with one in the chamber.

thats why i got my conceled carry...never really carry but just wanted it so I didn't have to worry about making sure it was in a case or like WVA likes it...you might as well have a gun safe on the back of the truck

Posted by Okie Dawg on 11-25-2009 08:17 PM:

I carry a 9 and a 22 in the truck loaded 24-7 I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
