Hunted in the RAIN!!!!

I really didn't want to go but they don't stop comp hunts when it rains so off I went well 1 hour later, after walking a 1/2 mile(felt like 2 miles) in the rain drenching wet.......I CAME UPON THIS!!!!

You really can't see the rain cause its from a camera phone but it was raining but I shined the tree the best I could but it was real tight at the top with vines everywhere he could have been on top of them cause I couldn't see the top and it was so thick in there I couldn't get away from the tree and shine up,so I just leashed him up no petting just an atta boy and walked the road back, what a night.

Nice Job!

Love the FANGS in the one picture! Good to see you get out there with the rain. I'd be a fair weather hunter(if I were able to get out more than once in a great while). In the good old days... in my horse career I had to do teh horse thing rain or shine etc... only thunder and lightning or dangerous cold stopped us professional fools....LOL... I appreciate your drive!

Lonely

Ay I understand your suppose to single them out once they start doing it alone but man hunting. About every night with only me and Gold Dust is driving me crazy a little I find myself holding conversations with HIM!!!lol and I'm not bragging one bit when I say this so don't take it that way but in my OPINION it seems like the better your pup or dog gets your buddys come a hunting less frequently then they use to,now its like pulling teeth to get them to go and I have about 400 acres total that I have to choose from and I hunt it alone night after night after night after night after night.......you get it and me or nor my pups ill...lol

That's the difference in me and your so called Buddy's. If your dog done well I would be happy for you. Now need in all the jealousy in this sport but it is. Every dog makes mistakes just some a little more than others. Thanks for sharing your pics. Nice looking hounds.

Wow well I only have 1 dog that I hunt so I can make about 4 drops a night,my hunting places aren't all together 100 here,70 there,350 elsewhere, plus I been trying to cut him off the tree here lately so that's helping out!How many dogs you hunt?

Posted by HOBO on 03-27-2009 08:36 PM:

Wish I had your coon Pop.. It takes Boone about a min to get through a 70 acre piece of woods. LOL

Yeah I can say the population of coon is good where I hunt, plus that 350 acre track hadn't been hunted (for coon) in the last 15 years the guy said and there everywhere cause those guys feed there deer year around so you know the coons are there, and no feeder buckets but lately he's been getting deeper and deeper, but most times he's treed real quick

Posted by PlottChaser on 03-28-2009 10:38 PM:

I know what you mean about trying to find the treed coon in the rain! I had my 2 year old female tree one the other night and I really wanted to find it for her. After looking up into the rain for about 5 minutes asnd nearly drowning and seeing about 300 water droplets that looked like eyes, I finally found him curled up at the very top of the tree. She did real good and I was proud!! Keep hunting in the rain, Darkman! The nastiest night of hunting is better than the most comfortable night of sitting in front of the TV in my opinion.

i HAVE 300 ACRES OF BOTTOMS,CREEKS,SWAMPS WITH TALLLLL WHITE OAKS THAT DROP LARGE JAWBREAKER SIZE NUTS WHICH IS FAMILY LAND THEN 700 OR SO AROUND IT I CAN GO AND HAVE NO PROBLEMS BUT TRY TO STAY ON MY DIRT.I RUN 1 DOG 95% OF THE TIME WITH FEDDERS ON MY MAIN CREEK SO I KEEP PLENTY OF CHASE.AND I DON'T KILL MY GAME SO I CAN CHASE THEM THE NEXT NIGHT.
HEADED TO THE WOODS I'LL GET SOME PICS AND POST BUT WE HAD 4" RAIN TODAY SO WE'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS.
