Appalachian Houndsmen Assc 2009 Elections/Membership Meeting

******ATTENTION ALL AHA MEMBERS*******

The 2009 Elections and Membership Meeting
will be held on Saturday February 7, 2009 at the
Green River Fire Department, in Tuxedo, NC at 4:00 PM

This is the most important meeting in the 2 years of the AHA!!!!

We are electing our 2009 Officers and are going to vote on some
proposed by-law changes. These by-law changes are to add more board of directors and to give a little more decision making power to the officers and Board of Directors to reduce the need for monthly membership meetings. We have had a very low turnout at the monthly meetings so we want to do officers and directors meetings monthly or as needed instead and have membership meetings once or twice a year.
All meetings will always be open to the membership if the choose to attend and input will always be accepted and expected.

SC State House of Representative member Mike Pitts will be speaking at this meeting. He is a member of the SC Sportsmans Caucus and Chairman of the National Assembly of Sportsmans Caucus. With the ASPCA issue arising now in SC this will be a good opportunity for some of you SC members to let him know how you feel about this issue.

It is extremely urgent that we have a many individual members and we would like to have 2 representative from our member clubs to be at this meeting.

Hopefully we will get sombody in there that will actually represent us at the next wildlife commission meeting? seeing as there was absolutely nobody affilated with the AHA this past week at starmount high shool to help fight against some of the newly proposed laws.

FYI

I have spent at lot of time on the phone with another individual that was at this meeting and she shared the same concerns.

Let me explain a few things.......

It was misrepresented by an individual that we would have people at every district meeting in the state. Trust me I wish we could be at all places at all times. Just because we were not at this meeting does not mean we are not working on it.....We have been working on this matter long before the meetings were scheduled at a state level in fact we were at the state wildlife meeting this past fall. Even though we have a few hundred on our membership those people are not all active in the legislative issues.

The next and the most important thing is we need membership....

If we had the individuals that were at this particular or other meetings being members or there clubs were members then we would have had representation at these meetings. We can not do this alone. I have already requested an email from the individual that called me directly asking for detailed concerns for this district. We will work with these concerns and get letters to the state and district representatives.

Please until you walk a mile in our shoes do not condem us. We need your membership and help not you putting us down because you think we did not do something exactly like you want us to.

We did have people at the meeting held in Morganton NC the night before the meeting in Starmount. Please do not make accusations that you have no idea the real facts about. This kind of fighting is why our sport is where it is today.
