My twist on the ALL GRAND PEDIGREE. No Show discussions allowed. lol
Everyone that competition hunts is working towards putting titles on thier dogs. Earning the title of Grand Nite Champion demonstrates one reaching their goal with their hounds. No argument that some do it totally honest with a coondog and others do it with less a dog by pushing the envelope. None the less they are driven to reach their goals and being successful on paper.
These people have pedigrees that look like this:
*******************Gr. Nt. Ch. Hard Knockin Stylish Hayes
***************Gr. Nt. Ch. Ball's Stylish Hickory Nut Harry
*******************Gr. Nt. Ch. Fletchers Stylish Anna
*****Gr. Nt. Ch. Tina Turner
*******************Gr. Nt. Billy Jack's Lightning
***************Gr. Nt. Ch. Crooked Creek Misty
*******************Gr. Nt. Ch. Lone Pine Bonnie
They then breed to Grand Nite Champions and continue reaching there goals and the line of Grand Nights continue.
I don't think anyone should be knocked for reaching their goals.
The pedigrees of the dogs owned by people knocking the ALL GRAND PEDIGREES look like this:
*******************Gr. Nt. Ch. Hard Knockin Stylish Hayes
***************Gr. Nt. Ch. Ball's Stylish Hickory Nut Harry
*******************Gr. Nt. Ch. Fletchers Stylish Anna
***** "PR" John's Singing Molley
*******************Gr. Nt. Billy Joe's Dan
*************** Nt. Ch. John's June
*******************Gr. Nt. Ch. Lone Pine Sally
Its obvious some are pushing and reaching their goals and some are like John. Taking a pedigree back to just a PR status.
I really don't think thats Johns goal, especially when I see him at the hunts. Since John can't reach his goal, I don't pay much attention to him when he knocks someone else for reaching theirs.
Look at the pedigrees of your hounds. Are you headed to All Grand or back to "PR".

I have nothing against all grand pedigree dogs. I think its great that some fella's like Abbott and others have gotten where they are. My problem is breeding to a dog just because it is all grand or a grand nite. Some guys have dogs that will tree coon that other dogs dont even know are in the woods yet these dogs will never be competition hunted. Some guys put family before coonhunting and while they may hunt during the week, when the weekend hits they are doing family things. Some guys dont care for hunts at all. Does that make these dogs any less of a coonhound? I personaly prefer to put $20 worth of gas in my truck and make 5-6 turn outs rather than put $30 in the truck pay a $15 dollar entry fee drive an hour away and get to hunt for only 2 hours. Like I said I have nothing against hunts, and nothing against All Grand dogs but please dont knock a 'pr' bred dog. I will gladly hunt my 'pr' bred dogs against any hound out there. And when my kids are grown up and I have the extra money I will hunt the hunts regular again.

All Grand pups are fine but you have to do your homework just like anything else. People that dont like all grand always say "I want a all coondog ped not an all grand." You can have both. There is all grand studs and females thar reproduce you just have to find them.

Bruce,
The Pedigree on my Hound looks like this,
Sire Not UKC Registered
Log Woods Chester
Dam Not UKC Registered
No PR, NO Title, No Hunts, a Set of yellow papers he earned by treeing a Coon, Blood stains on his Collar, Scars, torn up ears, and worn down feet.
Memories, of good hunts, bad ones, and close calls that im glad we both survived.
Hope for many more good hunts, but a realization, that my dream hound is ageing.
I dread the day he will be old and pass away.
But in my eyes, a Champion, and an achieved goal.
Just typed that, to show that not everyone, has the same goal, and everyone is an individual.
