Cross breed question

Once you get a dog labled as an x breed will all descendants of that dog from that point on be labled as a x breed or can you breed several generations and get back to another recognized breed?

It has to be over 75% pure breed I think.

87.5%. If you have a half walker/half bluetick and you breed it to a bluetick those pups will be 75% bluetick and will still be x-bred. If you breed one of them to a bluetick those pups will be 87.5% bluetick and will be registered as bluetick.

So genetically, What are the differences between a bluetick and a walker?

I think I read that it's 87.5% but I could be wrong. It's happened before, or so my wife says. Lol

Happens to me all the time , you ain't alone there! I just thought I remembered it that way because the percentages didn't make sense to me. Also the breed has the right to deny your application I believe as well. Also dogs that don't meet color requirements are reg. Xbred. The thing that gets me is why so many think its some sort of new " breed ", its not and there is no way to set a breed standard with this program. I am not against a Xbred dog at all but they are not a "breed".

I see both sides of it. While I agree they are not a "breed" they are still a hound and can have the same conformation standards as the other breed standards. As far as color, English doesn't have any color standards other than no brindle or albino. I'm not exactly sure how to go about it but I'd like to see the x-bred hunters have some type of representation.

Conformation is what I'm talking about. Doesn't matter to me either way I don't show dogs any way.

I don't either, I have no interest in showing a dog. I'm talking about rule changes and stuff like that.

I don't even want to think about that!lol

So if crossing a bluetick with walker and once the cross bred is over 80% walker then I can breed this dog with any registered walker and register the pups as walkers?

If the breed accepts it.

Yes, as long at the color and conformation meet breed standards.

Thanks...

Once they become 80% of whatever breed they can be transferred IF that breed association opens their books. It is up to the breed association whether or not to accept the transfer. Until transferred they will always be considered x-bred even if 100%.
