Help with DC 30

Dc30 wouldn't fully charge, so bought a new battery. After charging the new one it shows 50%. Has anyone ever had this problem?

Take q-tip or tooth brush & clean where charger attaches to collar & charger too (make sure it's unplugged lol)You can order replacement charges pretty cheap from Valley Creek if that doesn't work ... & Reggie there is really helpful on trouble shooting.

The light comes on when connected to charger. Then light will go off in about 10 minutes. Same thing with the charger in my truck.

Yes I had that problem. Disconnect the charger after the blue light goes off and reconnect. Usually only happens if I run the battery way down. Once, I had to do that three times before it ever got fully charged. The blue light did not go off after about 10 minutes though until it was actually fully charged.

garminguru has the answer.
What I have found when replacing batteries especially if they are an aftermarket battery it may take up to 5 charging cycles before they will show full charged.
If you ever have a question about the battery being just an indication problem you can turn it on and see just how many hours you are getting out of the battery.

I tried this and it didn't work. Looks like I'll be buying a new collar. Thanks for all your help.

Don't do that just yet.
If you want to send me the collar I will check it out since you have already put a new battery in it.
Try what we are talking about with a different charger maybe. Don't give up on it yet.

Bruce makes a good point too I have not considered. It may be fully charged, possibly, if it is an aftermarket battery but when you look at the Garmin and it says the collar is half charged that could be an erroneous indication and may never show full charge.
Try recharging it and make sure it is on a 5 second update rate, then just let it run on the porch. You should get about 14-20 hours on it. Probably closer to 17.
If you bought a seriously inferior aftermarket battery, it may only work10-12 hours!

I have tried 3 different chargers. Same results. What if I let it run down and then charge it?

Yes let it run down but time it and see how long it takes. Worst case your have an indication problem. I wouldn't buy a new collar because of that. If it's charging correctly just keep up with when you charge it. I really think after a few cycles it will straighten out.
When, I said after a few cycles that meant from all the charging you can do to it to dead or nearly dead.

I turned my collar on about 8:30 last night and it is still on. Gonna let it run down and charge it. I'll let you know tomorrow.

Collar died this morning. I hooked it to the charger an it charged for 3 1/2 hrs. Hope it works.
