I believe they're one of the same. I believe that a dog either has it or they don't. You can't instill it, teach it, buy it or manufacture it. I refuse to keep a dog that doesn't possess it. They are born with it. Also, just because one in the litter has it doesn't mean the others will. Based on 40+ years of following these ole blue pot-lickers, I have found that more the minority than the majority"truly" have heart & drive. JMO, that and $3 won't even get you a cup of coffee.

I also think one cross can wreck a line of hard going type dogs because once you don't have it it's hard to get back

These are the two most important things to me in a hound. As long as they have these two things, i will do my best to give them the chance, which is a ride to the woods!

If there is a guarenteed line to go to that throws a big hearted blue than i would be interested in lookin into it. Like mentioned earlier i think youve got the few in the litter that have it and the rest just a little less or none.
