Theron "Pap" Heffner
I received the sad news that Theron “Pap” Heffner of Mount Holly, North Carolina passed away at his home today at about 11:30 AM. The phone call came from Ricky McCall who was a lifelong friend of Pap’s.
I first met Pap at the Lincolnton, NC coon club. Pap, along with Leroy Helms were longtime members of the club and two fellows that I liked immediately.
I last saw Pap late last winter when he participated in a photo shoot for K-Light with the Ronnie Mace family and Jeff Shoe.
Pap was one of those great fellows that everyone liked and he had many friends in North Carolina.
To know Pap was to love him. He battled cancer for a long time and now is at rest.
Ricky was heartbroken when he called today and understandably so. Pap left an positive impression on everyone he met. He loved his English coonhound Sally and she and Pap provided one of the best coon hunting photos I’ve ever taken. I hope that it will make a cover soon to commemorate the life of a real coon hunter and gentleman, Theron “Pap” Heffner.
Goodbye Pap. We’ll meet again my friend.

Pap
Steve, thank you for starting this thread and posting the photo.
I am a member and current secretary of the Lincon County Coon Club and when my brother and I started huntin back in the late 80's,Theron welcomed us in as the young guys and was always willng to help us in any way he could.
I remember and cherrish the times I had with him and other older hunters in the club that have now past on.He was a role model and a standard bearer for many.
He will be deeply missed and the club meetings and hunts will have to adjust without him.The English breed lost a great ambassaor but for those of us that knew him,we lost a great friend.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Theron Heffner will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at the New Bethel Baptist Church,4108 Mountain View St. Mt. Holly, N.C. with the Rev. John Duncan officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Burial will be at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery.
For futher directons to the church, contact Johnnie McNabb @ 704-674-1387
Respectfully,
Mike Warlick
Vale, NC
The sport has lost some great folks recently, I will certainly pray for the family and friends as they mourn this loss. Take comfort in the memories of the past and take joy in the hope of eternity!
