The new dog.

Took the new dog hunting last night. She is a 5 year old Walker. Last night she struck and ran track pretty fast. When she treed she was hammerin every breath. So we started to walk to her and right as we were about to get to where we could see the tree she got off of it ( note she stayed treed for about 10 minuets). She got down like she was checking herself but she was still chopping every breath while she ran around for about 5 minuets with her nose on the ground. Then she got back on the tree. We walked back to the tree after getting out of the way just in case she ran it backwards or something. When we got to the tree she was treed on she did it again. Got down and checked again. Finally caught her and tied her to the tree and when we did she barked once or twice then didn't care about it anymore. I was told that it's kinda hard to tree one this time of year and the dog has a real cold nose. Any ideas on this one?

Doubt that matters much. More worried about minus rules on going back on track.

well if it was a even trade i guess the other guy will be on here askn question's about the dog you gave him then. and yes you are minus on tree.lesson learned trade junk for junk get's you no where . not being smart just stating a fact.. we treed 8 coon saturday night and we have thin coon in this area no feeder bucket's.

Posted by DestinysDemon on 03-27-2012 05:12 PM:

No I didn't see the coon it was a big tree surrounded by a bunch of smaller trees and had a big musky dime vine going up in it. Not being smart either I could care less about the minus points. A ain't gunna say she is junk we just got her. Anything could factor in to what happened the other night. Heck the guy could get on here and ask i dont care we told him when we traded we didn't know much about the dog we traded him because we only had him a few days but his son wanted him so even trade.

Not always! Some dogs are more timid an shy than others, they need more time to warm up to you.. Ive only seen one dog like this though, it was do to lack of poor handling, never bein on a leash an hardly messed with.. Hes comin around though..

Opinions are like buttholes everyones got one. Some have two!!!

if it was mine i would hunt the hair off him for a while. i dont know for sure but he might not have been hunted in a while and not real sure of hisself when he trees. some dogs want hunt good for a complete stranger, so i would try to be his best buddy. ive seen dogs that checked theirself when they treed but not as bad as what your dog is doing but the ones ive seen that check theirself were accurate. iam not say this dog will be worth a flip, but if he was mine i would give him the chance to prove to me if hes a good un or not.
