question for cat hunters

i would like to know what kind of snowmobiles you all use thanks Tim

I hunted for years without one and then finally picked up a couple to either dig a lion out with or recover my hounds. One is an old Yamaha 600 beater and the other a 800 Polaris--the Polaris will go about anywhere you are man enough to point it.........

I use a Yamaha 600, havent got to use it yet but I have a setup to pull behind it like Ike does. Nice aluminum dog box that is light, can squeeze probably 4 hounds in there, 5 if you really tried! Plan on using it sometime this year when the snow starts piling up.

Here's one my dad built, that I now use. It's just a 440 twin fan cooled. It's geared down and has a 151'' X 2'' track under it, with reverse which is a must in my opinion. We,ve put over 9,000 miles on the original motor and it's still going.

Yeah, that was the only track I could find. Like I always say. "Lower your standards and increase your odds for success." LOL.

Here is what I use, it works a lot better then pulling a sled. I used to do that but it is tough to get turned around with a sled behind in tight spots.

Nice!! Keep us informed of the storm..When does cat season start for you?

Posted by RunninBear(Ike) on 11-24-2010 03:07 AM:

Lion season opened last Wednesday but I haven't done much. A buddy and i went out Saturday and found a couple older lion tracks from the last storm but nothing we wanted to turn out on. I basically have four units within driving distance that are year round on harvest objective so I'm in no hurry to run out and wade in the snow after a lion, but the time will come before you know it.

I believe or bobcat starts December 1st, which is a couple weeks later than past years. They also dropped the number of tags from four to three this year, guess the trappers have thinned them out. I need to hunt my son's two yearlings on some bobcat and lion this winter so I picked up a couple tags since we don't have a pursuit season on bobers......

How bout you, when does you bobcat season open and do you hunt them?

ike
