Anyone used the Garmin Astro?
I'm looking at buying the Astro, but dont want to buy a new system if it still has bugs in it, or isn't any better than what I already got. I use a Quick track system with tracker collars now. Has anyone used the Astro, comments good or bad? thanks J Baker greenback,tn.
Everybody,
that i have been around with my garmin has looked over my shoulder about all night while being in the woods.. These things are awesome, and most of all just for the safety of ur dog. U can work on a dog with em.. There by far a hundred times better than beep beep beep beep!! And with the problems i havent heard of too many peopl that has had problems. a few range problems i believe bout it tho..
i got a garmin and a quick track, the quick track hasn't been used since i bought the garmin and there is not one single night i wish i had the quick track on the dog instead of the garmin..6 mos.

I have a Garmin Astro with 1 DC30 collar.
Over the last year, we've bought 4 Marshall Powermax collars (w/lights) with our old MN10 tracker. If it wasn't for the lighted collar option, we would have sold or tracking unit and strictly used the Garmin.
Since I have only 1 DC30, I'm still using the Marshalls with lights simply because I like running a lighted collar on my dogs.
Dad must be scared of technology because he hasn't switched yet and he's better with the MN10 than I ever was but if I could afford it, I'd switch everything out to the Garmin DC30's with 2 handheld Garmins and use the Tracker lights on the DC30's.
Buy a garmin, you won't regret it.
I agree with everyones post. My son and I love ours. Will never use another tracker again!!!

I know for sure,I'll never go back to the old trackin' system.Garmin has a few little bugs they need to iron out.But weighing the good and the bad,I'll use the Garmin.

I had one, couldn't afford to upgrade from the DC 20, and traded for a maxima because my dog started going deep alot more. I liked it. Seems like you have to buy a lot of extra's for them, In my opinion, to get the range.

They are one of the best investments you can make while coonhunting. It takes a lot of worry out of the equation, it tell you exactly where your dog is. It has helped out TONS!

I'm only a month short of two hard years using the Garmin. My beep, beep goes along but never seems to come out to play anymore.
My dog goes up to 2 miles from the drop point and I haven't lost him yet. the nice thing about the Garmin is you always know when he's moving out of the area and you can move with him to stay in touch if necessary. Not saying the Garmin is for everyone but it sure seems to make most coon hunters happy.
I am shure thinking bout getting one at first I didn't want nothing to do with the garmin but the longer there out and the more people i talk to the more i want one lol.
