Qt 6000 ?

For those of you who have one, how much range do they actually get, what collars work the best with them, and how well do you like them? I am going to be getting a new system in a week or so and would like some info. Also if this isn't the way to go, what is? Thank you.

I've got 1... Have one QT collar and one F&L collar.... I always use the F&L collar. I've tracked em all pretty much with it. The intello collars work pretty well with also. I cant tell any difference in any of the collars really.Range wise... It tracks a long way. How far I have no idea but if your just barely getting a beep wide open on high side. You better be looking for a different way in to em........I found mine one night buried up in a hole 40+ up off the creek bank intrance. It pinpointed right to him and over him.He had already gave up and stopped barking.. Dug down and got right on him. I like mine.....Saved that dogs life that night with it... Not saying others want but I had another kind that I promise I would not have one again if they were free!!!!!

I have one. I bought it earlier this year.

I havent yet NOT got a signel. When its a weak signel its still the direction to go, there just in there.

There just like any other system. Things like the terrain, how thick the brush and leaves, distance, all that play into how good a signel you get. I always get a direction to go though, and its always the right direction.

A couple things I have noticed though is that power lines and thunder storms dont effect it like some of the other systems.

I like it because of the 3 range switch. Makes it easier to determin how far they accualy are for me. Also because I can go on a cast and track just about any collar made. That also makes it easy to add collars, I can just go up and grab one that isnt the same as one I got and it will track it.

Thank you Larry. I have benn thinking about this for a while now. I have a rd300 now and it works ok but I tend to doubt it sometimes. Power lines mess it up real bad and seems like you get a 180 signal alot. Any trouble with the 6000 like that?

Ditto what Larry said.Will add however that the QT collars have better signal than most out there.Have done some side by side comparing.

Thats another thing I forgot to put. Absolutly no 180 signel around here anyway. That is as long as you have it turned down to the lowest setting you can still get a signel. I got rid of 2 different kind of trackers for just that reason. I think the 3 range switch is the secret to that.

When I was using the other 2, I always had at least a little signel in every direction. Mostly because there are power lines running along every road around here.

With the QT, there is one direction the signel is from and its the right one. Ive even stood UNDER a power line and tracked the dogs.

Good deal, that is the worst problem with the innotec. We also hunt around a litle air port some and that messes with it real bad as well. I think the other one is still fine but I would like to have something a little more dependable. There has only been a few times that the rd300 let me down but I'm not ready to take that chance any longer.

My son in law has one..it works great, very good range on it...I use wildlife collars..they seem to get the best range for me..I have two other brands of collars but not as good as the wildlife.

I do not know about the QT, but I do have a rd300. You are correct about the power lines. I put a Wildlife Collar and a Johnson collar in my front yard one day and headed out to where I hunt. I picked up the Wildlife Collar for six miles and the Johnson for almost 4 miles. Drove a square and stopped by some power lines two miles from the house, and did not pick up either collar.

The RD300 seems harder to pin point the dogs if they are close. It helps me to turn the gain and volume down when they are close. The volume low enough where you just pick up one faint beep and it seems to help. I mounted mine on a regular yagi, and I like it a lot better then the antenna the system comes with.

I lost a tracking collar off of my hound one night hunting with Elmo along the Missouri River. We went back the next day and found it, and did not have any problems. We had a little help from Belle marking the trees. LOL

I have thought many times of up grading, but I just have not gotten around to it.

Let us know how the QT works if you buy one.

I'll do it Scott. The 300 has worked well for me and it has seen lots of use.

power lines

are the reason i went to qt, we got alot of them here in central Indiana, they dont seem to mess up the qt's. Ive sold a few 6000's and everyone really likes them. the 3 position distance switch is really good. takes the guess work out of it. Ron Brown

quick track 6000

i love mine .... never let me down yet ... you can also help people out in the hunts or just pleasure hunting .... (goes a long way if your in unfamiliar company) to help a man find his dog ..... i use both wildlife and quick track collars both do well .. but at longer ranges i can narrow the direction of the quick track collar down better ..... derick

Thanks again. Should be able to order one this coming week if things go right. Kind of excited to get one. Have been wanting a newer system for a while now.

I just got my 6000 on Tuesday. Took it out today and messed around with it a little. At over 2 miles my Marshall collar had the strongest signal. Next was the new Quick Track that came with it. Third was a 10 year old Johnson. Fouth was a 4 month old Rats. It is easy and pretty handy to use. Tracks a lot better than my Tracker Maxima it won't track any thing much over a mile.

Orderd it monday got it wed. Havn't had much time to mess with it but like it so far. It does seam real easy to use, and it will be nice to be able to track all collars. Hope to get to use it a bunch in the next few months.
