Ohio Coon Season 2015

I don't think I saw a thread for this year so I went ahead and put one up. I did a search and pulled up last years thread and it was fun reading about all your hunts and mine, kinda of like a short story. I have to say it seems like a real nice bunch of guys and coon getters posted up. I still have Hook and Speck (the young uns) and Rocket and Angie to hunt this year. It will be a bit different this year with these young hounds being a year older at 18 months old. No holding back, going to pound them as hard as a 56 year old man that is gone for work 67 hours a week can. I have put some time in both of them this spring summer and fall. Pleasure hunting is still the thing I love the most about coonen. Plan on doing some buddy hunting this season, I did very little last year.

I wish all a safe season and remember let us enjoy your hunts also.

Looking forward to a good kill season...for anyone needing any collars leads or Garmin accessories or a new pair of boots to wear out I have everything you need collars and lead starting at 7.00 and Garmin antennas at 10.00. Thanks Josh.

I am really looking forward to this season also. Got a couple young dogs to hunt so that always makes it more fun. Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable kill season.

The male I call Hook gave me alittle squirrel problems this summer and I didnt catch it right away. I got ahold of a couple guys on this board and a good friend of mine close by, and we pretty much got that straightened out. Thank you to those that offered up the help!

Kinda Rough

Seeing these other states open season so much sooner than ours! Looking forward to getting some fur in these young dogs mouth... The leaves are coming down fast here in the Lisbon area.

looking forward to season

have several projects to work on this season for starters have a 3 yr old English female who got some of the last coon of the season out of some bulldozer piles, so now thinks all coon go in the ground.
My 2nd project is a couple of young English females have 3 to start this fall.
hoping for a better season this time last year I had my best Bluetick female hit on the road and killed it was a long hard season without her by my side.
best of luck to all and safe hunts.

Thats how old my 2 were when I started them last season. They each treed 10 or so by their lonesome. Didnt push them very hard last year but this year is a different story. Good luck and enjoy your retirement, I have 6 more years and I will be there also! I HOPE...

Week away, I have been leaving the dogs lay up a little. Give my wife a break. She knows what is coming but sometimes don't like it much! :> )

I'm ready for this season. I hunt harder in the summer then I do the winter but I sure do love to knock a few out. People ask me why I kill so many coon and don't leave any left to tree. Well I guided 2 casts over the weekend and we scored on 18 yes that's right 18 coon so I guess I still have a few left. I have been treeing anywhere from 4-10 coon a night for the last few weeks.

GRNT CH PKC CH NOCTURNAL MOUSE TRAP. I trained Mouse and this was coon season from 3 years ago

My grandpa and my GRNT CH MAIN STREET IKE dog. I trained Ike he was a special dog. This was coon season 2 years ago. My coon from last year are still in the freezer.

Hi Ron! Yes I plan on going for a hunt at Waynes early season. I went up in September with my young male dog out of Guage and Alice and we hunted in the rain and had a real good hunt. Both dogs looked great! Hope to see you this fall.

Calmly waiting!

Soon season will be in and once again it will be me and one young hound to hunt lone.Panic is also getting antsy to say the least.Coon prices are going to be low so very few coons will hit the ground this season but I will give Panic one here and there even tho he doesn't need them. He'll be 18 months old this Friday and ready to be hunted hard.Hope everyone enjoys the season and post some of thier pics! Danny G.

Curious what everyones game plan is for this year with hides not being worth anything? I can tell you where I live hunting spots are harder and harder to keep every year, I personally only harvest about 30 coons during kill season depending on if Im hunting a young dog or an older trained dog in order to not wipe out the 4or5 spots I still have. We normally try to shoot the majority of coons from the bigger state lands but Im really having a hard time with the idea of shooting coons and leaving them lay there, whats your guys plan??

Posted by Manboysransom on 11-09-2015 04:05 PM:

Nick

Being that hides ain't worth much I figure it's a good year to try and make all the kids hats from the coon that they shoot out and I always wanted a coon skin comforter.
If anyone has any experiance in tanning hides give me a call.

coons

What I do shoot out,I'm gonna lettem lay! Not worth them time to skin them and not planning on shooting out many to my young hound. He doesn't need them any how so why shoot'em!! Plus you don't have to lug the gun around while hunting!!

My brother and I are ready for sure,,I got the alpha's and collars fully charged,,our light are fully charged,,truck is gased up,,lol,,dog is in top shape,,brother works 2nd shift,so I'm just waiting on him to get off work,,and we'll be in the timber around 12:30 or so,,
Could care less about shooting or carrying out coon,,with the price they are selling for,,and that's if you can find a buyer,,I hope they stay this way,,means more coon to train my pups,,cause we have a few coonhunters around here,,and if they can get 5 bucks a hide,,they're taking it,,but the way it is,,they won't even go out.

treed 3 and caught one on the ground before the rain set in on us.

I treed 3 coon a den and a slick last night before getting soaked. With coon being worthless i'm going to miss several nights this year.
