What a weekend

I don't think I have ever had a more memorable weekend than I had this weekend at the BBOA National hunt in Batesville, Ms. Those guys sure know how to make you feel welcome. It was not only me, they did this to everyone that came in. I knew about the award for Tramp going into the Hall Of Fame and that in itself was something special. Billy and I were humbled by this, and we thank BBOA and Zone 6 and all the BBOA membership and anyone else that had anything to do with Tramp getting this award. We had nothing to do with the breeding of Tramp, but it was an honor for us to carry on the work of other breeders such as Mr. Warren Haslouer and Mr. Craig Edwards and all the other great breeders and hunters behind them.


The Lifetime Achievement Award was a complete shock to me. Well I had heard something about it several months ago, but I had pushed it out of my mind, Thinking that something like that was not possible for a guy like me just doing what I love to do. Although my best friend and hunting buddy Mr. Jeremy Purvis did a lot of the write up on this, he never said a word about it. I also want to thank my good friend Mr. Steve Bankston for his help on this write up. He didn't say anything either. We were so busy up there that it never dawned on me what had really been done for me up there, until I got home and settled back in and got to thinking about what all that had happened to me this weekend. I tell you I kind of broke down. Other than Jesus in my life and my kids Its probably the greatest thing that's ever happened to me. Although I have a house full of trophies, they are nothing compared to the Lifetime Achievement Award. And when I thought about how these awards are voted on by other hunters and breeders out there, some who have done a lot more for the bluetick hound than I. All I can say is a Heart felt Thank You.

Jeremy and I had a wonderful weekend. We met a lot of old friends and made some new ones. We hunted 3 nights and had great hunting with great hunters each night. We would like to thank all the guides for doing a great job. Thank you BBOA for a great hunt.

Mr. Smith I'm very proud for you and the others that received the lifetime achievement award. Thank you Sir for your dedication to our breed. Very happy you had a great time and look forward to seeing you again.

That is truly the BEST part of being president. I get to shake the hands of the men whose dogs have made an impact in todays breedings. Without you many future generations would not have todays hounds.
