Hobo's Hoss - Who knows the facts.

I'd like to hear what y'all know about this hound, and the traits he threw in his pups (hunt style, mouth, looks). And what years he was around, what other hounds are out of him, number of pups, Gr.Nt/Nt.Ch total, what hunts did he win... Any info is appreciated.

I'd go straight to the source. Give Bruce Gilliam a call he will tell you all there is to know on Hoss. For my part of it, I liked more of his pups above all others. Especially off an Ace bitch

Bruce is the best guy to talk to about him. I was lucky enough to get to hunt with him many nights, He was and still is my favorite dog of all time to see go. He hunted hard, He wasn't a top end strike dog, but got struck well often because of his hunting style. He had a awesome locate and was the first big mouthed wood monster that I ever saw. You really cant imagine what a "looking to get treed" type of hound he was unless you witnessed it. His head was most always covered in slobber when you hooked him up and you literally drug him away from every tree. he could flat drive a track and often left dogs strung out on tracks. He produced many fine hounds and several top winners, I couldn't name all of them with out missing some but ones that come to mind are KS Jr,KS Gem,Tige,Rumor,Slam. The biggest thing about him was the number of reproducers the reproduced. The was a legendary type hound.....

If you look at 60% of dogs today they all go back to Hoss. I won't own a dog unless I see Hoss in it. Also I have my name on a list for a puppy off of his semen

Yep. Got my name in the hat for one of them semen pups. Pulled the trigger before I've done all my homework. Playing catch up now and gathering info.

I spectated him when he won king of Black and Tan days. He did everything that you wished to see in a dog. Lay up, cold track, and a running coon. After that night, he stole my heart. I also got to see a few off him, like Tige, Slam, Victor, just to name a few. Hoss made it look like he was a thorough bred and the others like just old horses. He was impressive to say the least

Yes....Hoss was first named Cracker.The Rumor bitch was sired by Dark Hollow Hulio not Hoss.
