nvm

One of mine does it. But hasn't done it lately for some reason. I was told there would be an update shortly to fix the problem but I haven't checked to see if there was one yet.

mine freezes once in awhile, nothing crazy. Yours sounds broken to me. Try a master reset and make sure your updated.

.

Try starting new hunt every time you can. They are just like a computer and get overloaded with to much information. You can take it one step deeper by going into your track manager and resetting everything. Hope this helps.

thx for the reply bro.. i have went threw all that. completely reset the alpha, deleted everything off it, took out the sd card, master reset.. still locks up.. not as bad but, who tf wants to use the tracker without anything on it lol

it seems the more you put on it, like birds eye, or adding more collars/dogs, the more it has to store.. the worse it does it.. and it only gets worse with time.. (if it is locking up now once a night, in 3 months, it will be 3 times a night) IME then if u decide to buy another collar and add it on, OR add more HIGH res birds eye, well lookout.. cause it will cause it to freeze worse..

hopefully they start making them with a little better internals because it is a hell of a system otherwise.. i mean, i can correct and or track my dog for miles. with drop dead accuracy..

EDIT: i start new hunt every night.

Just for information. Did your ALPHA come with a TT 10 collar or a TT 15 collar?

I have the TT10 combo but upgraded collars. My buddy has the 15 combo. Both do the exact same thing.

I was asking for two reasons. If it was a newer one with TT 15 it came out after August of last year and still under warranty. It would be going back to the dealer as fast as possible if it was mine. The ALPA that came out with the TT 15 has twice the internal memory of the ones packaged with the TT 10. Between myself and my partner we run 4 ALPHAs and I had one lock up and I checked the trip computer and I had let the memory get full. Cleared it and they work fine.
I only use 8gb memory cards with birdseye on it and that covers about 30,000 acres I hunt with no problems.

Junk

I've had 6 alpha handhelds. 1 new 5 refurbished.. All with the same results. Screen locks and slowly fades and shuts off. I'm use to it now so I just turn it back on each time. Good luck lol. Seth

Alpha shut down

Got my 5th Alpha now & they all had shut down/freeze problems
1 never froze for nearly a year, then started the problem
I first thought it was related to a Birdseye card because it was not as bad without Birdseye, I never had but one shutdown/freeze while in the holster, it happens when l had it my hand, performing some function.
I have 1 now with TT 15 & T5 & have less freeze/shut off now, not because of new equipment, but because I changed my operation habits
My suggestion is to keep unit & collars updated & reset frequently, tracks, waypoints, etc.
** use Alpha only when you need too, don't play with it all the time
Re set touch screen
Slow down, use steady rythm when using touch screen, if you do need to reset or program, take your time, l suspect the Alpha touchscreen does not "read" finger touch as quick all the time, especially in cold weather
If you touch something & it does'nt move on or a light stays on, stop right there
The Garmin Techs at the big hunts & on the phone will tell you these suggestions have no input on performance, but these are my personal observations
