It's mostly about dog and cock fighting. Has nothing to do with hunting. The only hunting it would effect would be hog dog comp hunts.
quote:Sir both dog and cock fighting is already a felony charge in ky this is a step for the hsus to get their foot in the door on ous. For so many years cock fighter always thought they had it made until the hsus snook the spectator bill in with the farm bill which was passed with ease. We as houndsman need to keep our guard up

ACT relating to animal fighting.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
Section seq [SECTION] \* MERGEFORMAT1. KRS 525.125 is amended to read as follows:
(1) The following persons are guilty of cruelty to animals in the first degree whenever a four-legged animal is caused to fight for pleasure or profit:
(a) The owner of the animal;
(b) The owner of the property on which the fight is conducted if the owner knows of the fight;
(c) Anyone who participates in the organization of the fight.
(2) Any person who knowingly owns, possesses, keeps, breeds, trains, sells, or otherwise transfers a four-legged animal for the purpose of that animal or its offspring being used to fight for pleasure or profit is guilty of cruelty to animals in the first degree.
(3) Activities of animals engaged in hunting, field trials, dog training, and other activities authorized either by a hunting license or by the Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources shall not constitute a violation of this section.
(4)[(3)] Cruelty to animals in the first degree is a Class D felony.
This is what I found. If its incorrect then please post the correct text to it.
I try to keep up on things like this. As long as the text stays in it about hunting, field trials ,etc,etc then I am in favor of this bill and would not be affiliated with anyone who was not in favor. I thought about becoming a member of the Ky Houndsmen association but a couple years back I was looking for some help on something and couldn't even get a return call, email or any type of support. So I won't be calling.

Bill
Explain to me why anyone in the first place would want to stop a Bill that's against dog fighting, cock fighting or any other type of fighting. I am no animal activist but I am against cruelty. If you are truly against it or truly a sportsman, why not call to make sure the wording is correct, subparagraphs put in to protect hunter, hunting, field trials, and other parts of our sport? I will call for those reasons.

Kentucky: Support the Dog Fighting Bill
Posted on 02/13/2015 from the home page.
A bill in Kentucky will bring their animal fighting law in line with the majority of other states. Currently in Kentucky, only the owner of a four legged animal used in a fight, owner of the property where the fight is held, and organizers of a fight may be charged with a Class-D felony. HB 154 would expand that to “any person who knowingly owns, possesses, keeps, breeds, trains, sells, or otherwise transfers a four-legged animal for the purpose of that animal or its offspring being used to fight for pleasure or profit is guilty of cruelty to animals in the first degree.” The law would be more inclusive as to who may be charged for participating in animal fighting. An amendment has also been put forth to remove the description “four-legged” so that chickens would be included as well.
United Kennel Club has a very strict stance and zero-tolerance policy against dog fighting, as should all responsible dog owners, and supports HB 154. UKC urges you to contact Kentucky House of Representatives and ask for their support on this bill. One way to do so is to use the legislative inbox found at the following link. Be sure to refer to HB 154 in the subject box, and address your message to “Members of the Kentucky House of Representatives.”
