Sources of meat for dogs ?
What do you guys that feed meat, do to obtain it just lookin for idea's thanks
You're in MN right? Look up Big Dans Trucking http://www.bigdanstrucking.com/index.html you can get course ground beef for .30 lb and ground chicken for .50 They are located in Altura, about 15 miles east of Rochester... You can get any amount of meat you want, it comes in 10lb bags. I go there every month or so and get about 300lbs. There is also RawsForPaws (swansons meats) in Minneapolis, a little more pricey but a larger selections of different kinds of meat.
i go to the local butchers and get their throw outs or scraps they don't use and feed through the winter sometimes and they will give it away.

Small scale slaughter/butcher shop.
Ur unlikely to get anything from a large scale one.
U can buy chicken necks/gibblets from almost any meat counter by placing an order. SavAlot, I buy 40 lbs. under $22.00
I use canned mackeral from WalMart. I mix 1/2 pound with 4 or 5 cups of Diamond AE daily, the mack costs less than 5 bucks a week. AE plus mackeral, throw in a PetTab if it makes you feel better. A dog can't need much more than that.

Go talk to the nearest livestock farmer. They have to pay to get rid of dead stock or find someone in the area that home butchers Beef.

cow gut
freind has a small butcher shop....gives me the gut tie a rope on throw in the creek the hang it in a tree next to kennels cut of a little each day .....also get his cracklings...& lard....that he dont sell
One of the local slaughter houses renders it's beef and pork fat trimmings into cracklins. I buy cracklins by the box weekly and mix them with regular dog food. My dogs are slick and they actually gain weight in the winter.

Find a fur buyer near you and get some beaver carcass from him.
also, if you know of anyone that hunts and kills deer, ask them for the trimmings and carcus. the bones usually have a lot of meat on them. most people aren't very thorought in buturing a deer. you can always get the heart, liver and head.

Make sure you debone deer if you use it. The bones splinter when they bite them. A friend of mine lost a dog because of that. The splinter ruptered his stomach and he died. Just a warning.
