Eye Problem?

I HAVE A FEMALE THAT WILL NOT OPEN HER RIGHT EYE. I HUNTED HER EVERY NIGHT THIS WEEK. TUESDAY NIGHT I HUNTED HER ALL NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY MORNING IT HAD A LITTLE MATTER IN IT BUT NOT THAT BAD AND LOOKED ABOUT THE SAME YESTERDAY. I CLEANED HER KENNEL A FEW MINUTES AGO AND SHE WILL NOT OPEN IT. MY WIFE CHECKED IT TO SEE IF SOMETHING WAS IN IT BUT FOUND NOTHING. WHAT COULD IT BE?

THANKS FOR ALL REPLIES.
GREG

was at the vet awhile ago and a dog came in and it had a stick in his eye.

She could have a scratch on her cornea. You wouldn't see it necessarily. Keep flushing the eye with plain eye wash. Not Contact solution, or anything with a steroid in it. Two - three times a day. If you have artificial tears add that after flushing.Watch for infection. I always recommend a trip to the vet, but I doubt they are open on Christmas. Good luck.

I've got a male that gets really watery eyes and gets some green gunk in it from time to time, when you look at the eye its all red and looks like some popped blood vessles, thinking maybe they scratch their eyes going through all that stuff out hunting...

HOW LONG DOES A SCRATCHED EYE TAKE TO HEAL? AND SHOULD I LAY HER UP UNTIL IT DOES? IF THAT IS WHAT IT IS.

clean it well like the other poster said and you can get some Terramycin Opthalmic ointment from the local Farm supply store, thats more than likly what the vet would give you as well.

my dog keeps his eye closed for a pretty long time, i have some medicine that i put in it that i used to use for my dog that cut his eyes up real bad in the corn fields, within a couple days of using it his eyes clear up pretty good. The stuff I use is, NEOMYCIN and POLYMYXIN B SULFATES and BACITRACIN ZINC OPHTHALMIC OINTMENT USP.... works pretty good

Take a tea bag and make up some strong tea,let it cool and wash the eye out with the tea. I know it sounds odd but it works. Welders used to do this for arc eye.

eye problem

if you have some boric acid powder dilute in down with water and flush eye out works real good on a eye that has been scrathed or irrated

give the dog a little benedryll so that she can rest amd relieve the scratch until you can get it checked out.
