Two things I want to complain about!
Ok, need to vent so here we go!
Got our credit card statement in the mail yesterday. We've had a low 9.99% rate for forever now. Well, I noticed yesterday when I glanced over it that we have only put like $100 on it this last month but our payment went up $32. Hhmm... so I looked, and they have increased our interest rate to 14.99%! We have never paid a single bill late.. for this card or anything else. We always pay more than our minimum payment, and are no where near the limit. Speaking of, while they raised our rate, they also raised the credit limit by $2500. Funny thing was, I saw on the news last night after getting ours, that this is happening to MANY people due to the finance scare right now. Can't remember what they called it... credit bumping I think? Well, guess what... not using THAT card anymore, paying it off and closing the account. They can bump someone else. URGH!
Ok, on to my second head ache of the week...
We got four tickets to the Trace Adkins and Lynyrd Skynrd New Years Eve bash in Nashville. Lots of hype, supposed to be the first concert of it's kind. They are doing a two state party that night flying between the two states (TN and KY) to each perform in the same show! All the "cheap seats" sold out quickly. We bought "mid-grade"
. 2 of them were for my parents, already wrapped under the tree. That was the bulk of their Christmas this year. Only other gifts they got were a book and a movie each!
Anyway, find out this weekend that the concert has been cancelled due to "poor ticket sales in light of the recent economy woes." Now, the only seats left for this show were $250+ a piece!!
Here's my solution... not sure about these two performers, but Kenny Chesney has grossed over $68 MILLION dollars on concerts alone this year!!! So, instead of cancelling concerts where over 1/2 the tickets are already sold to people who probably won't see $1 million in their LIFETIME, let alone a single year... how about cutting the cost of the tickets?! Why not charge $100 instead of $300? Really, is ANYONE worth $300 for two hours of dancing on stage? Wouldn't that be better for the economy, the performers pocket, and the fans?!
Ok, feel better already! Better go do some Christmas shopping, seems I don't have my parents done after all....
MERRRY CHRISTMAS!

I agree 100% on the ticket prices. I used to go to a lot of concerts of both rock and country. The prices just keep going up and up, and most of the big names I would like to see, have priced me out. Maybe they are worth it to some people, but I have drawn the line at $50. That knocks a lot of them out of my league. Come on, I saw Garth Brooks when he was the biggest show going, for $35 for just off the floor level, center stage. Few performers will ever put on as good a show as him. I guess I will have to listen to them on the radio.
Can't help you with the second part but for the first problem do a search for Dave Ramsey find one of his courses in your local area and sign up. Credit cards won't be a problem after that.
I agree with you on the credit card. I had one a couple of years ago that was 7.9%. made every payment on time and kept a low balance. they raised my rate to 14.9% also. I called the company and told them this was not acceptable. they said they had to raise the rate because they were not making any money this way. they did offer me a discount rate of 11.99% because I was such a good customer. I told them to cancel my card and paid off the balance. about 8 months later the same company sent me several letters trying to get me back as a customer with the original 7.9% rate. I have gotton along just fine without it so far. lol
I saw Ted Nugent (free for all) in 1975 or 76,for $7.50. And I think that was a lot of money then too.
Last one was Hank jr. 10 years or so,listen to him sing A.B.C./N.F.L. All my rowdy friends, for a half hour and swore them concerts off right then.
buy the C.D and enjoy it just as much, just turn it up real loud.
not trying to be a smart a**, just the truth.
My dad and my wife went to the new Lucas oil stadium,to watch high school state finals for football.popcorn small was $4.75 ,large was $8.00 or $8.25?.bottle water $3.75,way to much money.

It's insane

As long as people keep paying the outrageous prices for concerts and sporting events they will stay where they are. People just need to stay home and eventually the prices will come down.

i rememmber paying 10 for fair concert tickets ,early ninties, and paying 35 for good floor ticjets for brooks and dunn and some. i went to a lot of concerts, now i'm married and can't afford a ticket. i took my sister to see alan jackson and paid over
60 for mid priced tickets. credit cards have been cut up and
paying them . they are ok if you can keep them paid off.
I go to at least one major league baseball game every year and usually 3 or 4 mostly in Yankees Stadium or Philadelphia. The cost of drinks (especially beer) and food is outragious but from my observation it doesn't seem to be slowing anyone down. I see alot of people pounding down 5 or 6 beers over the course of a game. Seems foolish to me but apparently to others it seems to be no problem.

Been to a movie lately ? Costs more to buy the wife popcorn and a pepsi than it does for tickets.
My credit cards pay me to use them, not the other way around. Thats what happens when you don't do or buy things you can't afford or don't need and you pay the entire balance off every month.
