It's a great game to get you through the winter months but admittedly, it's a low success rate activity unless you go someplace that really has coyotes.....like Arizona! You think you got coyotes where you're at? You don't. At least not like they do. Give it a try and stick with it. You'll enjoy it.

Get the new coyote hunting DVD that Mark Zepp has out. There's footage of this one I killed being called in and shot along with about 50 others.

I have a Foxpro too..nice caller. The weird thing is, some areas it's seems it works great in...other areas nothing ever shows up. Coyotes and fox act differently depending on what spot you try...or from what I've experienced anyway.

I started out with hand calls and like most everyone else felt the need to get into electornic callers...I used it a couple times, and it works fine but it just dosent seem like as much fun.

Im back to the hand calls.

Calling in the right spot at the right time is far more important than anything else IMO.

They dont come if they arent there.

Josh, Do you know if we can hunt coyotes at night in MN? I think that we can but not for sure. The other night when the moon was so bright and the air was clear we had coyotes howling somewhere close out back and it would have been easy to shoot them if they came in to a call.

Night

In Fla they are pretty leaneant with you on Coyotes, they consider them a Nusence so they are glad to get rid of the pest.
the game warden told us we could shootum poison what ever worked, if im not mistaken he said we could hunt them at night we just couldent use a light .

That sums it up. I use hand calls because they are light. If I don't get one I just keep moving deeper into the section and try again. I don't know how many times I have tried unsuccesfully and then moved two hundred yards and tried again and got one. The cover is thick here and the sound doesn't travel that well.
