one eyed walker

my walker might loosed his left eye, he got bit by a coon, and then his eye turned blue-ish, vet got me anti-biotics and pain killers for him, says he might loose the eye though......so, anybody ever hunted with a one eyed dog?

I have seen plenty of one-eyed dogs hunted. The only thing i have notice in a couple of male dogs is that something coming up on them from their blind eye side will startle them and might cause a little aggretion.

he's not a mean dog in the first place...he just wants to kill the coon first....or he will growl a little, but hasnt bit any dog or person.

In the late 70's I hunted with a Good Rebone dog that was blind in both eyes. He treed coons right on. Every now and then he would run into a tree or something and squall out. But he treed coons, his name was Major. This thread brought back memories.

my dad had a dog who lost one eye. She hunted fine with only one eye. As far as I know she was comp hunted with one eye and I can't see why you couldn't comp hunt a dog with one eye anyways.

Yes you can hunt a one eyed dog

Yes you can hunt in the night hunts with a one eye dog. I have a walker male that is one eyed and it does not hold him back. He is not at all startled when a dog or a person comes up on his blind side. I have huntied him with a lot of dogs and he showes no aggretion at all. I have made him a nite champion and he is a great puppy trainer and a pleasure hunters dream.
