why is it??
Why is it that every now an then even a old broke coon dog can tree a opossum...but u cant hardly ever get a good opossum dog to tree a coon???
Good possum dogs are just trash free, they're born that way.

Back in the day, in these parts, we all had combo dogs [possums and coons]. Now, you rarely tree a possum. Dave

I have only had 1 dog in my entire life and she never treed a possum until she was 11 yo and it was only 1 and that was after she had a stroke
at 10 1/2 she died before she turned 12 and my buddy Dean and I treed about a 100 coon with her and his old Plott gyp Bell the season before Ole Sandy died and that was in South MS.

Now Sandy 2 is not like her great great granddam on a cast one night we scored on 6 trees 4 of them had coon and Sandy 2 got close and all alone less than 100 yards from the truck and got 1st and 1st on 2 possums and held the pressure. I almost made the Judge put the stationary on her on the second one. LOL

Tar, I hate to disappoint you but I witnessed a Porky commit suicide down by Simon a few years ago. There are a few around here now.
Seen one run over out by lake Murray here awhile back but I don't think there is that many.
