gun question!!!
My 5 year old boy just forcefully inherited my marlin xt 22 compact. So now I'm debating on a Ruger all American compact or the marlin 70pss "papoosa" any suggestions would be helpful.

If you are out for a rifle, the Ruger 10/22, is the number one selling .22 of all time. The Takedown model is nice for packing around, but I'm a fan of the old 10/22's that came with walnut stocks. They looked better and they had a hardwood. The newer birch stocks are soft, and scratch and ding easily. Also, if you were in the market the 10/22 Charger is the pistol, which would be easier for carrying through the woods.
Call me nostalgic, but I hate all of these newer guns. Manufacturers are looking to cheapen up their lines with little consideration for not only aesthetic appeal and durability, but also performance.

I really was leading towards the ruger but I kind of figured we already got 1 compact 22 rifle and that lil marlin model 70 I was told is very reliable. Kind of seems like the only difference between the Ruger and my marlin xt 22 is the rotary clip.

You cannot go wrong with the Ruger. Great price but also a very dependable and accurate firearm. I own several of the American Rifles.

Definitely worth taking a look at what CZ has to offer in the 22LR or even more fun, .17 HMR. Adding a decent scope will do nothing but add to your satisfaction with the rifle too. Check out Nikon's PROSTAFF rimfire or Target EFR scopes. Can't go wrong with either choice. You can even load blanks in them for training purposes.

Always wanted a pistol to carry instead of a rifle. Thought about the Ruger charger or Mark11 with 10in barrel. Im no dead eye so red dot sight would be added of course. And I would want one with a holster to pack it around it. Any suggestions?
Yep got a suggestion. Get a rifle. Especially if you are in eastern Ky. Thought one time I wanted to carry a pistol but didn't take me long to realize my mistake. Climb a big hill and find the coon sitting in the top of a big poplar, get to where you have a clear shot, and most of the time you will NOT have a rest or anything to prop on. Gonna find out you are shaking like a rat on acid. Didn't ake me long to go back to a short rifle with a sling. Good luck on whatever you decide.
The cz is a lil more then I want to spend on a gun that's goin to get beat up a lil. I think its between the ruger American compact, savage m2 with threaded barrel for my suppressor or that lil pappoosa.

more power
22 MAG is the best,, reasonably priced , more knockdown power
I didn't like my 22mag for coon and squirrel. It was ok for ground hog. But blew a whole in everything else no matter wat ammo I used.

I have had the Ruger American compact in .22 mag for 2 yrs now. Real happy with it. Easier to carry through the thick stuff than my .22 Fieldmaster pump. And the extra punch the mag has is nice imo. I just keep close tabs on the clip because they look to be expensive to replace.
I was told I can take the clips out of Roger 10/22 and they will fit. So that's kind of a plus. I just seen that the savage m2 has a threaded barrel so I could us my suppressor. Which is always fun to use but not really must on my gun decision.
