-- No tire kicking. No B.S.. (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928384678)

No tire kicking. No B.S..

Are folks really just this unpleasant nowdays? They hate other people or what? They put this then on the ad it usually says something like this.

Dog forsale. Hunts. Good one.

Then that about sums it up. No number,no location. No nothing. Yet they dont want tire kickers or BS. How dumb!

Most of the ones like that ,will usually say PM me your cell number and they will text a pic or two. Thats when I look for how many posts they have ,and then if you look at those old posts thats all they are dog traders .

Yep. that is certainly aggravating. I have bought two puppies recently and if I find the right broke dog I will buy him too. It really seems like common sense to me to at the very least advertise the location...if I was selling something I would have a picture posted, the location, the price and contact info.
I hadn't thought of dog jockeys trying to fly under the radar as suggested above.
Some people really do have a nice dog and really do need to sell it and that is not good. If someone is to stupid to include a little simple typical info then I guess the only thing to say is "stay stupid." Come on folks...location, price and picture!!! Those three will knock out most of what is being called "tire kickers." If I have to pm to find out a dog is in Montana and that kills it for me I am certainly not trying to kick a tire. If I have to pm for a number so I can call it to get a picture of the ugliest dog alive that aint kickin' tires.

I have seen a few I was interested in but just a little info. Then call them find out about the dog and they know very little about it. Or find out something I don't like and not buy it. Well to find out the info you want then not buy is not tire kicking. It means simply your not interested now. I don't mind people calling me for questions then realize there not interested now in the dog.based on the info I tell them. .
Tire kicking is calling to BS. And never intended to buy. Tire kicking can be viewed a few different ways.

sometimes you put all that info where dogs are at and such and they end up missing before long.

I'm glad I'm not looking for a dog. it's gets so old looking at all those ads from across the country. unless it's a world champion and it's free, location is very important. I don't care to deal with men of few words either. some men have such sorry communication skills about all you can force out of them is yea and no. Please and thank you are out of the question. You call some of them and you'd think you reached Russia.

They wont scalp me...and I am not afraid to deal with anyone of them. "all ya' gotta do"...is speak the language. Here is some simple translations:

"Reason for selling this dog is I have to work..."

That is really saying: this dog is so sorry I would rather be at work bustin' rocks, so I am selling him instead.

"I just haven't been hunting him because I have two other young dogs I am working..."

That is telling me that he aint as good as the other two so you want to get rid of the feed bill.

"He trees squirrels sometimes..."

No, he's a slick treeing idiot, period end of story.

"He only barks when he wants to go hunting..."

What coon hound don't want to go hunting 24/7??? This means he barks constantly in the kennel.

"He's a helluva tree dog..."

Yep, if a butterfly flies by the kennel he is still treed four hours later...helluva tree dog!!!

"He's started good and can tree an easy coon..."

If you completely cover the coon in barbeque sauce.

Yep, top knots aside, this aint my first rodeo...pilgrim.

msinc

I have to disagree on the work one.

Here's my reason: IF they person has a job like mine (pipeline) then they might not have the time to hunt all of the time or for months on end (could be out of town). Or if they (the person in question) doesn't have the hunt drive then they won't go out hunting while they have all the overtime they can stand.

The rest of it I can and do agree with.

Posted by kenney Clark on 08-06-2014 01:02 PM:

From now on I don't give a reason for selling one. The reason is my business no one else's. I say seeing is believing come try it. People exaggerate and think there must be a reason to sell it. Maybe its for the money . period. When you go to a ford or Chevy lot for a new truck do you ask the reason for selling it? No cause it be pretty silly. Not all coonhunters are liers and cheats when they sell a dog.

Yeah, don't get me wrong...all of the above listed "reasons" to sell could always be the real reason. It's just that I see them used as the real reason a hell of a lot. I believe that more often than not the guy just gets sick of hunting and wants to stop, but he wont ever say that because as Americans we cant stand a quitter. If I ever need a cover excuse it will be divorce...who doesn't know/believe that a woman can take you to the cleaners???!!! I doubt I will ever need a cover excuse though...I have absolutely zero problems telling you that my reason for selling is always to get as much of your money as I possibly can.
You are right about one thing...if you are trying to make a sale, you definitely don't want to ever tell the buyer any more than you have to. Answer his questions and be vague, anything else is giving him a reason not to buy.

Posted by novicane65 on 08-06-2014 02:02 PM:

I agree not all and not the majority either. But you gotta read between the lines on a lot of ads.
I also agree to go hunt the dog or see if a trial is possible. I've seen dogs just not perform after being bought too. And not just for the first week or two. The dog never performed for the new owner like he did for the old one. The two knew each other before he bought the dog. Hunted at least one night a week together. They hunted same spots but for some reason the dog just lost drive and heart over not being with the seller.

Posted by msinc on 08-06-2014 02:07 PM:

Yep, and I haven't bought a lot of dogs but I always did as good whether I tried them or not, but I usually always knew the seller too. And I have definitely seen the thing where you go try a dog and it does great then bring it 5 states over to where you live and it just cant seem to do the same no matter how long you try it. That is strange to me {and a lot of other guys around here.} I wish I had the answer to that one but I agree and have seen it a lot.
