I have a 3 month puppy that has got parvo. I give her the 5 way shot and she is very sick. I put an iv in to give her fluid. What is the chances she will make it. I took her to the vet and they give her a shot of peniclen and they told me to keep doing what I was doing. I m bout ready to quite hunting altoghter.

You will know in about 3 days, hopefully she will make it. The vet told me when it comes to parvo shots to only give pfizer brand. He sells me them for the same price as TSC or the feed mill. I know his have been handled correctly are good ones...

I had a pup that was 8 months and got had all three 7-way shots. The vet said shots that come from feed supply stores aren't always handled correctly which might have been the reason. They put her on IVs for two days and now she's 4 years old and runnin just fine. Good Luck and hope it gets better.

you need to get anti vomiting injection from the vet. my male had gotten parvo at the time we did not know what it was, our vet gave him a 30% chance of making it. i was pricey for the injectionsa but he did make it and is finishing up to 4way grand

Hey ,I never tried it cause I never needed to ,There are guys on here that swear by orally administering a clorox solution .Says it works.I guess you can search parvo in the box and find the dosage and imfo on it.Good luck.

Im still giving fluids rite now. She is still having runny stools that are water and blood. I have smelt some bad things but nothing like this before. I have her in the house so we can keep a check on her through the nite. If she's living in the morning I will be surprise.

[Quote] here Wayne I looked it up for you.

This worked for me 10 prts Clorox to 100 parts water. Give a few table spoons as often as it can keep it down. Three days is a long time but if it stayed alive that long that might be a good sign. Good Luck

[Quote]The vet gave me nausea pills, this, this and that and told me if this and if that, I could keep him alive for three days he stood a 50% chance of recovery. So I called the breeder I just got the pup from and he told me about the clorox. Clorox at 2cc/98cc water and try to get 10cc down his throat 10+ times a day.

He couldn't keep the nausea pills down so I said what the heck thats going to be way less than50% now. So I tried the homebrew. I said "Come, get your clorox to him so many times he started answering to it. He got over it. His name is Clorox.

I told my buddy about it who told his grandaddy. When time came his grandaddy had forgotten the ratio so he used it 50/50 mix. Said the pups got over it in two days.

DISCLAIMER! this is not a recommendation.

Pat thanks for using my quote verbatim, Clorox is going on 7 years old. Wayne 32 don't quit. It is tough but it could be a Bacterial gut infection next time called Coccidiosis and Parvovirus looks just like it, so keep ALBON antibiotic on hand and clorox if you have a pup. The vet is correct , I even keep Ivermec in the fridge and wormer. All meds in the fridge where I live. PS you're not a Collins or a Wrenn are you ? Wrenn my inlaws home range. By the way I have a 5 month old Meeks Leopard needs a home. I like her.

Sorry about you loss. the biggest things with treating parvo are getting fluids in, keeping their temp down (most folks never take a temp when there dog is sick) and treating the nausea.

wayne it sounds like your pup had what ours had back in the last of july our vet called it cocciddiosis. omg i have never smelled anything like that before. the poop was a very runny, watery, redish brown color that smelled 10x worse than rotten fish and deer guts together. they did vomit a little, but not as much as the horrid diarhea.

we gave them albon 2x a day and kept them on iv fluids every 4 hours. we saved 4 out of the 5. this struck fast. like overnight. pups were fat and healthy monday on tuesday one was dead, 1 vet gave 10% chance, 2 others were going down quick. only 1 never got really bad sick.

said it is caused from bacteria in the ground and that they have seen more cases of it this year than any other year because of the excessive heat, then all the moisture.

i am sorry for your loss.

A cap of clorox in a bucket of drinking water is a very good and healthy general prevenative. It also keeps you bucket clean and keeps that green algie out of it

Just remember once you have parvo on your place you can pass it to other pups for at least 5yrs. I have always bleached the kennels weekly. But Parvo stays in the ground so if you decided to get another pup down the road make sure you wait the proper time frame to make sure that the new pup doesn't get it. The shots also do not keep pups from getting it, they are just a preventative to help them from getting it! I am sorry to hear about your pup, dont give up too easily!!!

This won't hurt a dog? I do hate that green algae in the warm months though.
