Southern states....

Attention al southern hunters: Today my wife and I were out walking with our baby and up the road from our house is a little creek. We usually like to walk down there and look around, and let the dogs play around in the water. As most of you know, these past two weeks the temps have been below freezing. Today the weather here in south Alabama was in the 60's. Well, laying in the sun down by the creek today we saw not one, but two huge water moccasins. I didn't have a gun with me so I was only able to kill one. It was 3 and 1/2 ft long and already aggressive. The other one slithered back into the bank. Last week thry were froze solid, today they are back! You northern hunters have got it made! Keep your eyes peeled!

LOL, it'll probably be back in the 60;s before the month is out........usually does it everytime.

Them old snakes ain't going away............later this month when it warms up again, don't be surprised to see them out sunning on a rock.

Never ask a man what kind of dog he has. If he has a hound he'll tell you, if he does not, you don't want to shame him by asking.

I never go into the woods without a .22! Even when I go fishing I have a .22 for snakes! Water rattlers, moccasins, rattlers, even green snakes. I'll kill em all! Makes you wanna put up the dogs and pick up the poles! Crappie fishing on the Alabama River!

I killed a 48" cottonmouth 2 days before christmas several years back. And it was in the 40's that day!!!! The sun was out and it was sittin in the sun on a beaver dam. Couldn't believe it. It probably would have bit me if it wouldn't have been so cold bc I was about to put my foot down right on top of it.

if you live in snake land, as we do down south, it pays to watch your steps, year round. warm days seem to bring them out, especially after the weather we have had here.

SNAKES

In the SOUTHERN BLUE RIDGE MT.S OF VA. where I live we dont have very many snakes, few black snakes, copperheads, and very few timber rattlers. But travel a hundred miles or so to east VIRGINIA and they have it all. The first cottonmouth I ever saw was near the coastal swamps down there. It makes me glad GOD borned me in these blessed SOUTHERN BLUE RIDGE MT. Man I hate snakes, remember the devil became one in the garden and messed man up forever.( THANK GOD JESUS CAME AND MESSED UP the devils PLAN FOREVER. REMEMBER JOHN 3#16).

Just keep your eyes open. You'll be ok! It's a way of life here.. doncha know? If you stay obsessed with snakes all the time it will take all the fun out of huntin! It'not like there's one waiting on you everywhere you go.

Water Moccassins

I killed one years ago on Jan.18th(I've never forgotten the date)while huntin' wood ducks in a beaver pond.It was like 58 degrees that day and I had just filled my limit on wood ducks and was headed up out of the pond.Right when I was about to step up onto the bank, somethin' caught my eye.YEP!!!It was Mr. No-shoulders.And he was ready to strike.I eased back one big step and blew him away.To this day I tell this story to people and they don't believe me.I'm just glad I saw him cuz I was about a mile and a half to the nearest house.
