Coonhunting in Indiana

My buddy and I were talking about going up to Indiana for 3 or 4 days and hunt, but neither one of us has ever been so we don't really know anywhere to hunt. My question is is the public land just about as good as the private? what is the best areas of the state to hunt? thanks

hunting...

the hunting is better the closer you get to michigan. There is alot of state ground north also. Indiana is a great state to hunt, Michigan is a little better if you get find somewhere to hunt. Indiana's season doesn't come in till november 8th.

The southern part of the state has a lot of coon as well. Bein' from TN you'll probably feel a little more at home down there than up by Michigan. Try and find someplace near Tell City or Liberty down south, and I'd go north east up in the Indiana, Michigan, Ohio corner if you decide to head north.

Good luck!

I go up and hunt the Missinnowa Resorvour [sp] sometimes, I ussually put a post on here and have Several Nice people offer to guide me, The Private land is best, but if you have a Guide the Resovours are pretty good.

Just send me a message or call 765-472-2743.......Season starts November 8th.................................................Tim

Get you an Ind. Atlas and Gazetteer, it shows most all the Public hunting, then after you have picked a spot, put a post on here that your coming up, and a bunch of Great People will offer to help Guide you, just like they have on this post. I have to say Ind. Coonhunters that I have ran into are some of the Nicest People you will ever meet. I have just picked a Public Hunting spot, went up there, then bumped into another hunter, tell them Im up Pleasure Hunting, and they would Guide me the rest of the night.

where i live in indiana we usually tree a minimum of 5 coon a night. crosley is a pretty good place to hunt, there is alot of land there cant remember how much but alot.theres also another place called muskatatuk about 7 miles from my house that has pretty good hunting, then the property bordering that is 6,000 privately owned acres that we can hunt.
