A Hot Summer Hunt In Louisiana!

Just thought I would share some pics from last nites hunt in southwest Louisiana. My old dog got deep, & stayed treed for hours before getting to him. He ended up in Fort Polk woods where they do military training, & all the roads where closed. Had to walk for miles. Got home around 5:00 in the morning. But still enjoyed the hunt for some reason.

nice pic

just wondering if that was going to be a coulple quick drops. because we went out last night and by the time dogs treed they went threw the briars and across the river and had we to back track on foot almost a mile in some the worst area l have ever been in to get to them, but when we got to them finaly, they had the meat, guess it was my fault l forgot to tell the dogs it was going to be a quick run! lol
but it is no fun fun unless you get one of those runs once in awhile!

I sure thought it would be a quick drop! It cut him loose in in a nice creek bottom, I figured he would get treed quick, instead it was about 45 minutes or better before he struck, & he was deep, you could barely hear him, & he just went deeper & got treed.

that was the same for us, my hunting buddy said let dropp here should be a quick one , thats almost as bad as saying lets do just one more dropp and you know how that goes you get to see the sun come up, but there is no other sport for me!

The bad thing is we had just treed two quick coons before this last drop. Then I had the bright idea to go up the road & make one more quick cut loose. We could have been home by 11:30 if I could have left well enough alone.

you know l have always thought that the dogs here you say one more dropp and then well you know the famous last drop we have all made them!

Thanks Blue Ice! Believe it or not, He is just a few months shy of being 9 yr.s old. If we can ever get that pup in the background started then I may slack off on the old dog.

That is great you are still hunting him at that age but that is what he loves doing. Most just put them up and leave them. Good for you. Hopefully you will get your pup going.

I will continue to hunt him until he isnt able to go anymore. But as of right now he still acts like a 3-4 year old.
