-- Updating TT15/T5 issues (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928542134)
Updating TT15/T5 issues
tried doing an update on my collars this morning and have ran into issues with both. I am using the webupdater program an connect the collar to cord and the program finds the collar. When I go start update it starts working fine and then the program freezes and the light on the collar turns green. I give it over 10 minutes to try to complete but nothing ever happens. I disconnect the collar from the computer and try to turn it on and it beeps like four or five time and starts flashing red fast. Also tried hooking it back up computer and doing a hard reset but no luck with that either. I sure do hope I'm not out two collars. I had just updated the alpha without any issues so I dont think it was the program.
Thanks
.
Are you using a MAC computer? If so, please don't do that.

Try Garmin Express on collars. Web updater on handheld. Should solve problem.

RC you may have that backwards and it is understandable. This is the last e-mail I got for a person responsible for this project at Garmin.
Got this e-maii a month ago. I stay confused myself with the changes back and forth.
Garmin Express has version 4.30 on it for the Alpha 200i. WebUpdater is not recommended for anything other than the full size collars I know that is going to be another growing pain for people who have used that for a long time. As we go into busy season I am sure some of the old issues will pop up especially since straight out the box is usually not the latest and greatest software version available.

not using a MAC computer. been on the chat with garmin for an hour. they recommend to reinstall webupdater, which i did and still not change. they claim to have never heard of this issue. ii've got the only two collars ever to have this they claim which is hard to believe. and just my luck they claim to out of replacement until January. hunting season starts next week. can we say perfect timing!!!
Yep!
I did type it wrong. LoL! Trail and era When I do mine. It's like coonhunting, I stumble around in the dark. Just listen to Bruce he will guide you right,

Buckmaster not giving up on you buddy. One more question and I am only trying to help. When you turn it on are you just pressing and releasing the one button for a second or less. The beeping and fast flash sounds like the pairing mode which happens if you hold the on button for a couple seconds or more. Try just a quick push of the button.
If the same results, try a master reset.

just barely pushing the button. i've tried to master reset on it also and nothing happens. i hear the four presses of the on button but the light never changes colors. i took it outside to see if it would connect but it doesnt do anything. will not even try to pair to my handheld. just dont understand what could have happened to cause this issue. look like i'm out two collars. shouldnt have tried to update i guess.
.
Try upgrading it again.

I have two 8 yr old tt10 collars .Ive never updated them .They work great. Why update them if they work good?I did put a new battery in one and the battery charge scale on the info page no longer works. But the collar works fine.I just have to remember to charge it.I was told if i updated it it would probably start working.I dont have a computer and would hate to fool with it.ha.

There are a lot of people out there that think the same way. In many cases that is the correct way to think. Actually the collars are the device that needs updating the least.
You asked why update them. Let me try and explain what updating does.
First if there is a bug discovered in the software of a device. Garmin will put out a fix for that and updating will correct that fix.
Second and most importantly. Over the years, Garmin has bought out newer products or newer maps. To get these with newer products to work with the products already out. Software changes in the older products need to take place. That is accomplished through updating.
