Dog pen size

Thinking about buying or building some new dog pens. Either off ground movable or on a concrete slab. My question is how big should they be? I know a lot are like 4 by 8 but that seems small. I would like to know what you think. Thanks.

10 x 50

Got 3 pens 10 x 50 with one dog in each pen
16ft metal roof with 14ft wood floor on a pretty good slope
Dogs empty out on lower end never have to clean pens
They stay on wood floor under roof majority of the time

Just built this one on a 32’x13’ slab and the last foot of it is a drain. 4 pens

5x10 is plenty if you hunt

I like the 6 X 12' runs. I have 4 of them 2 of them are 39 yrs. old. The other (2) are 37 yrs. old. Have (1) that is 4' x 12' that is over 50 yrs. old. That one was built in a different day and time. Best quality I've ever seen. They are all 6' high.

Had coon hounds in them for years Now they're full of hare hounds! 😗

Training dogs is not so much about quantity, it's more about timing, and the right situations...After that it's up to the dog....A hunting dog is born...

Pen Size

Check your States requirements for a licensed kennel just in case. In Wisconsin the minimum is 32 sq ft for one dog and 48 sq ft for two dogs in a pen.

I have had all kind of pins over the years(60).I would go with Mike's pin,maybe put a elect wire around the the bottom,thats what has worked for me the last 25 years.(bigger runs the better,just my 2 cents worth)

I like 8 x 10.

I got a 20 x 40 heavy gauge 6ft high chainlink on dirt....divided into Four 10x20s,..PLENTY OF ROOM,...BEST THING I EVER DONE ...WAS TURNED A MOBILE HOME FRAME INTO AN OFF GROUND KENNEL.METAL TOP,51/4 DECK BOARDS,SIDES ARE WRAPPED WITH GOAT PANELS 8 ftx 30ft divided 3 ways,can move it around with small truck...MY OPINION OFF GROUND IS THE BEST WAY TO GO..
