Showing Cross Bred Hounds?

As a bench show judge I have been asked, "When will UKC aloow cross bred hounds to be shown"? Does anyone have the answer to this? i have a single registered cross bred hound myself and just started wondering the same thing.

From my understanding,,they will never be able to show,,because they are not a certain 1 breed,,they are a mixture of breeds,,how can you win a best of breed when you have more than 1 breed mixed in the dog

That's a good question. That's why I am asking because I didn't know if UKC would even allow it.

Could they not just consider cross bred as a breed just like they did the American leopard hound?

Nope,,that's already been discussed with them.

I have no interest in showing dogs at all I hunt them and put them in trials and that's it but I really don't understand why these people raising cross breeds couldn't show them against each other if they want. I realize there are some breed standards with pure breeds that you may have to throw out the window for cross breeds but aren't allot of the things your looking at when you judge a dog pretty universal? To me a well put together hound is pretty much the same no matter what color it is. Maybe you wouldn't be able to let them show for "best of show" but just to let them show for best of "Their breed" if it makes them happy couldn't that work?

See, what I have is a full blooded walker with no papers and the sire and dam have no papers. Therefore I have to single register it as cross bred. Not raising cross bred hounds

You would think UKC would come up with something where x-breed could compete against other x-breeds.,,but then again,,how many x-breeds are going to be at the same show to compete against each other.

LOL that's a very good point. I actually don't remember drawing an X-breed one single time in a hunt this year. There can't be that many of them coming.

They should do it if they know what the cross is. Ex class of Bluetickxwalker vs Bluetickxwalker or blk tanxredbone vs blk tanxredbone etc etc

That way I think in my opinion there is some sort of a "standard" you anit gonna see a redbone x blk tan come out looking like a Bluetick.....idk lol maybe you would lol

So if you have a Walker X Plott cross you use both standards? Explain what you mean.

I have one that looks more like a B an T than lots of black an tans. Looks to me that should be enough. He has no white on him period and is half walker. Which is a lot less white than a bunch of them ukc let get single registerd.
