female having discharge after heat cycle?

My blue gyp just went through a heat cycle and now she is oozing a slimey pus out of her vagina. Last night she was taking leaks like crazy. Is this normal for female hounds?

Could be what is called a pyometra, an infected uterus. Happens usually30-60 days after heat cycle, uterus fills with pus. They drink a lot of water, making them urinate much more than normal. Sounds like she has an "open" pyometra, pus is able to leak out. She needs to go see a veterinarian. Surgery may be only option.

My dog had this her first heat cycle. Vet gave me some antibiotics and told me I could douche her out if I wanted too. I only did the antibiotics and it cured mine.

Pyometra is life-theatening. Vet now.

It is most certainly pyometra! If you want her to live you better get her to a vet.. If shes discharging infection you may have to spay her..

How is your dog doing now? Antibiotics clear up her infection?

Good, maybe it was a really bad urinary track infection, keep an eye on it. Did your vet do a urinalysis to test her urine?

I have one like that & it all sounds like the same answer I got from 2 vets
Both vets also said she will probly get it everytime she cycles & that seems to be the case
They both said get her fixed or breed her & sometime that takes care of it
Please keep us updated & I wish your girl well
