Usually they will make a couple big circles and then if they can't throw the hounds off then they will go bye bye to a new area code!! Not all but a lot of open mouth track dogs with have a different bark when they trash a lot will chop on trash when they are normally bawl mouth track dogs but not all and more so than not if you know your hound and there mouth even the ones that aren't that drastic of a difference will still bark different on trash!!! Good luck

How would i know?My dogs arnt trashy!LOL.Deer will run straightline FAST and deep!Red Foxes will play with the dogs by jumpin on every treetop and runnin in tight circles.Grey foxes will run straight and deep like a deer. When in doubt i shock mine cause if they get away with trash runnin too much they get to liken it.I think for every trash track they run it will take twice as many shockin to break them.JMO.Knowin your dog real good helps to.

a grey fox will run figure eights smaller circles across more tree tops than a red thus causing a lot of dogs to locate treed then go on.a lot of people will confuse them for a hard to tree coon.

I agree with the earlier statement that deer make a big loop and try to come back to the place that they are comfortable. I don't believe I have ever run a fox before, but if they are anything like coyotes, then they jet out of the countryside. Just seems like they take off in a straight line and it is off to the races. I don't prefer the term "trashy," I like "gamey." It has a nicer ring to it.

Grey Foxes are actually a member of the cat family and can climb a tree. Deer, foxes both tend to run only as hard as whats pushing them. Deer Sometimes a straightline and another zip code, sometimes a tight circle in a half acre patch. Foxes tend to run circles. Really the only way to be 100% positive is to see it.

Seems most everything will usually circle..depends how much heat the dog applies and how the critter is feeling...

Ive had yotes run big 1/2mi or mile circles..had packs of yotes turn and eat the dog..

Deer ive seen blow outta there...and other times its big circles...

Gray fox can climb...same with cats...and bear..often times like was said a dog will hit a tree and be burning outta there again...

And like was said if you know your you can usually tell it aint running a coon..

Careful with e-collars...ive seen enough ruined coon dogs that i will never use one unless i see the critter the dog is chasing...and this time of year with the rut you can get some long hot coon chases..ive had a couple that made me wonder if my youngun didnt turn trashy till he slammed a tree and had a big ole boar up it...

Also some dogs will burn deer by sight..once they get out of the field into the woods the race will end...i dont think ive ever had a coon run a wide open hay field a long ways from trees...deer and yotes will though
