Striking before the min is over...

Just wanin some opinions on this. Seen ppl strike there dogs within the min judge tells him he better continue the track on after the min up. Next drop he strikes within 10sec. How does this rule really work or does it?

It works just like any other time you strike your dog. There is nothing special a dog has to do if it is struck within the minute. The minute is simply a grace period given so that a handler does not have to strike a dog that may bark out of excitement when cut.

it can

Get you. If you strike under the minute when your dog opens at your feet. Then it doesn't bark again until 300-500 yards away. The judge can and most likely will minus for babbling. Seen it more than once.

After he stroke he has 6 minutes too strike again depending were your hunting I would never strike a dog here that fast only way I would if I was on buckets or if I had a really bad babble dog on my cast

There is no 6 min rule in UKC. its 8 minutes and it is strictly the judges decision as to weather or not the dog is babbling.

I'VE BEEN

In two hunts where the dogs barked from the time they were unsnapped until they were put in the box. One guy would strike after somebody else did and the other struck as soon as the minute was up.

Isn't the strike rule in Akc where if you strike within the first min the dog has to tree within five min?

In AKC. if you strike your dog in the first minute it has to immediatly be followed by a tree call. If several dogs get open in that minute, when the Min. expires they split te strike points.

Its something like if they strike in the min. They have to be treed also. Then all dogs barking through the min receive like 50 strike points. I think!

X2, BABBLING BUCKET CHAMPION. seen'm set good dogs up on 10 yard buckets, just so they could say they beat'm, with them buckets.

If I can tell he's going to carry it, I'll strike under the minute. Generally you can tell by the way they are opening if they actually have a track in front of them or if they just smelled something thats a day old. That's my two cents, for what it's worth.
