How bright is your light.

I'm looking at getting a new light and was wondering how everone's light compares to another. I have only used a nite lite with a 5100 head so I don't have alot to compare to. Was also wondering if the higher voltage lights that only last 1.5 hrs on high side would be worth the extra money and if the low side is very bright, enough to spot a tree. I'm thinking of getting a Blazer 16vlt. because of the long burn time on the high and low side(sometime them ringtail can hide pretty good). Any info would be helpful.

IVE BEEN HUNTING A LONG TIME BUT NO MORE THAN I GET TO HUNT THE NITE LIGHT DOES OK BY ME. IVE FOUND ITS NOT THE BRIGHTNESS OF THE LIGHT THAT MAKES A COON LOOK. SOME PEOPLE CAN FIND MORE COON THAN OTHERS. I TAKE A 15 YEAR OLD KID WIYH ME AND HES THE BEST IVE SEEN. I ALSO PUT A 4 VOLT BULB IN MY MINE AND IT SHINES BRIGHTER AND USES LESS POWER. ALSO IT HAS A LOT TO DO WITH MY MONEY WHICH I HAVE VERY LITTLE OF. IVE ALSO HAD A BANDIT AND IT WAS A GOOD LIGHT.

The high volt lights

Will burn the leaves off trees. If you get one, be sure you get one with a reostat type switch so you can turn it down very low to get a coon to look. The ones I've seen with the click switches were too bright on the lowest setting for this. They are much brighter than the nite lite.

I have a 21 volt light,with it you won't need a spot light,the only time i ever use the high side is to shine the trees,so the hour and a half would take alot of shining to go dead.I use the low side alot to shine the tree at first and you can find the coon with it.

I have a blazer 16 light and it is one of the best lights I have ever had. You can run it all night walkin and turn it up to shine the trees and it hasn't left me in the dark yet. I don't even carry the spot light unless all the leaves are off the trees. Also if you want it real dim on low to shine in the summer get you a red or amber pop cover and put on the head.

I've used several of the "high voltage lights". this has been my experience - they all have a great warranty, and you will probably need it - switches, batteries, etc, etc.

After trying these - I went back to Nite Lite with a 5100 head. Yes its not that bright, but why do you need it? I can see a coon just fine with mine, and I have not seen another light that can turn down as low as a nite lite to get those coon to look.

why go with the big money - keep it simple.

I have two 20 volt lights

A Cajun stinger -- had it since '96 replaced the head under warranty. The battery pack went after several years use. No other problems with it. Have a Bright Eyes Terminator --had it two years --No problems with it at all. The Terminator will burn 3 times as long on the low side of the bulb as the Nite Lite Hot Light. I have burned My Nite light Completely out several times when I hunted all night. Still have the Nite light, but seldom use it any more. Spoiled I guess. Battery packs are expensive to replace on the high volt lights. The lights are like all of our modern equipment, trucks and such, nice to have and operate, but more expensive to maintain. Just my thoughts on the subject.

I use a Cajun 28 volt belt light. No trouble with it so far. If you were to turn it wide open on the high side, it would blow the bulb before the 1 1/2 hrs were up. Thats usally what makes a bulb blow is it gets too hot. I have had it cranked wide open a few times and I guess it was like being there in the daytime. It is pretty bright. Brighter than most spotlights. However, I really dont use it a whole lot except to shine trees. I usally use the walk light to mosey with. I keep it down low to spot coons with as it seems they look at a dim light more. If they won't look, I crank it up and try to find them. I have had the hot light before. It was alright I quess I did'nt have trouble with it except for the 4 volt zenon bulbs. I would blow about one a week no matter how low I kept it. I liked the bm30 and the 10654 I think it was. The hi-low bulb seemed to work the best. Nite Lite sent me a catalog the other day. I noticed they have two new lights now.

i use the son light led from nite time supply, 30-40 hrs burn time on low and super bright

and i havent seen or heard of a led light blowing a bulb yet

i just got a Big Dog cap light last fall. nice not having the extra weight from the old nite lite.
