physical address for clubs?

i could have sworn i read on here or in bloodlines (i think it was in bloodlines..) a while back that clubs were to start giving a physical address to the club house for traveling hunters using a GPS to navigate...

i really like plugging in an address and knowing the exact time i'll be there (no fault but my own but i dont like getting there hours early..) and exactly where im going...no fooling with maps etc...

but, i havent seen clubs post addresses..not in bloodlines or online under upcoming events...

anyone else remember reading it?? i could sworn they made it a requirement...a physical address would do more good than some of the "turn by turn" directions ive come across...ive been turned around a time or 2..road signs down, tiny back roads etc...and the "UKC nite hunt sign" is never visible unless you know where they put it..typically a tiny little sign..youd think a club would want business and hunters and would try to help us find the club houses....? lol

I am a secretary for a local club, they have included a request for physical address in every hunt packet recently, I finially gave them the address of our closest neighbor since our club has no address.
I imagine other clubs have been getting the requests also. In fact I have noticed the address included in the directions of many clubs...See examples below:

Vanceboro, NC
NC, Vanceboro; East Carolina CHA 1 mi. north of Vanceboro on Hwy. 43. 1500 Hwy. 43, Vanceboro NC. Contact E.T. Sawyer Jr (252) 943-3870

Ashville, NC
NC, Asheville; Western North Carolina CHA From I-40, exit 44, turn left (north) on 19-23 for 3 mi. Take NC 63 west (Leicester Hwy.) 2 1/2 mi. Turn right on Old County Home Rd., 1/2 mi. Right on Lees Cr. Rd., 1/2 mi. right on Erwin Hills Rd. 3/10 mi. to Erwin Hills Lions Club. GPS: 188 Erwin Hills Rd. Asheville, NC 28806. Contact Gary C Cox (828) 645-3705 or (828) 713-7509

Our club has no address either, but I am going to start posting an address close.

On a side note, I really feel sorry for individuals that most rely on a GPS. I have raised my boys to pay attention to where they are going and to remember how they got there. I have also showed them how they can find their way even when GPS or computer is wrong. Yes, they are frequently wrong!

It is a sad state of affairs when society gets so dang lazy that we have to rely on electronics to tell us how to get somewhere.

Larry, while I agree with you about sence of direction, I also disagree with you..........when travelling out of state to an unfamilar place, sometimes roads are missing road signs and sometimes there is detours..........I keep the ole Rand McNally in my truck, but doesn't do much for local streets when issues arise.......Garmins can come in quite handy.

Recently, my dad and I were out of town to pick up a vehicle and he needed a part for it. We had no clue of the area and shopping places. Turned on the Garmin, found the local Advance Auto, and routed it to there. Of course they didn't have the part, so looked up O'Reilly, routed it, and found the part.

Garmins are a useful tool.

Drew,

I just don't belong in this century. I also believe that the Walt Disney Cartoon about Wally the robot is a sad commentary of our potential future.

I blame Bill Gates. Ya see Mr. Gates thinks he knows what i want and 9 times out of ten he is wrong. Anyway, it may seem like a convenience for things like our head lights to come on at dusk, but I truly believe these conveniences are affecting our young people's ability to make simple decisions. Fact of the matter is making decisions is like any thing else ... you get better at with practice. No practice = poor decision making abilities.

Can someobody please turn the clock back?????

LOL Larry........My old man is up in his sixties and doesn't own one so I have heard it from him.......Though he was surprised and liked how I was able to pull up auto parts store to get to in a place we had no idea about........but he is still not interested in owning one.

That's part of the competitivness of the nite hunt. You have to find the clubhouse to sign up. If your dog is better than mine but I scouted out the place or left 3 hours early and I made it by the deadline then I have already beat you and your dog if you don't make it by the deadline cause your riding around lost !

thanx Chris...guess its a slow work in progress? i read that a while ago...atleast a year or longer...and so far i havent seen an address for clubs around here...

i have no problem finding my way without my GPS...i can run a map and compass all day and night in the woods if needed..i can get where im goin with a road map real easy and always keep a state atlas with back roads in the truck one for traveling the country...

the GPS is just simple...

it does kill my awareness of where i am and how to get outta there lol...i WILL admit that..just because i dont hunt road signs..i listen for the GPS...

ive had em be wrong...but its never horrible..im on the right road...

but when im traveling a couple hours from home to a new area, i dont wanna be driving around, usually in the dark, looking for a road sign that usually doesnt exsist..trying to follow some turn by turn directions coming from a highway i didnt come in on...

Physical address and gps is nice when guide leaves u in the woods or withdraws because he is mad and hopes u cannot get back to the club house before deadline. Went to hunt one night got there by verbal directions pulled up to where sign said club this way turned felt good, looked in my mirrow truck behind me stopped and took down the club's sign Guess the guy didn't want anymore compition for the night. lol

yep..GPS is GREAT for getting back to the club when the guide decides he aint goin back...been there...

if i dont have the clubs address (sometimes i can google up the clubs address..but not all of them..) i will mark the club and save it in my GPS once i do get there...that way i can get back..and can get home...with noones help and no trying to figure out where you are on a map or driving around tiny country roads hunting road signs that arent marked what they are on the map...

i hate to rely on electronics and stuff...i didnt want or think id use a GPS...but mom bought it for me a few years back and gave it to me for my birthday...the night i was heading to a hunt...i work out of state alot as well..moving somewhere for temp work 6 months out of the year...i use my GPS a bunch...mostly for nite hunts and when i move somewhere new...

gps address when you do not have one

where i live now has a gps address but the only ones that know the location is the sheriff dept. and now the tax collector.
you know close to where the address is ,so do some field trial and error and you can come up at least an address where you leave a public road.

had the hardess time getting hi/speed internet because the home office had no idea where i lived. local repairman got that straight.

ups still can not find me unless i give my old address.

most clubs has a gps address in their club report.

Anyway....whoever you are, I got a kick out of your post above.

Physical address

You are right that we should not rely on electronics,BUT when you are a looong way from home(8 to 10 hrs.) and the address for hunts are vague and as usual no signs either. So a Gps mark is very helpful.Between the indicated ad and the local road names and Google the don't match up.
