I've seen quite a few redbones like that. They will hunt around you and lay up coon all night. They can also be dogs that go but are easily trained to hunt close.

I've seen several that were either out of Razor Red or out of some of his littermates. Crossed on to different stuff they can be dogs that will throw dirt in your face too though.

I've got one at the house just like that. Makes a few too many trees at times but she's still young. She can and will tree lay ups other dogs don't know are around, but she'll also miss and some nights will show you every hollow tree in the woods.

I like a close to medium hunting dog but some nights she doesn't hunt out hard enough for me. I'm hoping that improves with age and solo time.

I can't say it is typical of her breeding, but close hunting lay up style dog is just what she is.

She's a Walker female off a Finley River male and a Bozo / Clover female.

I can't say that is typical of the line of dogs she's from. She's not yet 3 and isn't as mature as her age. I'm guessing as she gets older and hunted alone more often she'll range out further and further.

It is kind of nice in the fall to have a dog that will hunt around you as you walk a section, she's about perfect for that, but I rarely hunt that way. I typically flip them from the tailgate and walk when they're treed. Once in there I'll continue to flip them but I don't walk them. This one sometimes needs to be walked a little ways before she'll get gone. Some nights she doesn't.

My hunting buddy has a Black Mouth Treeing Cur female that is just perfect what you discribed.
Very smart and handles good
Hunts close and fast
Opens quick with a loud chop
Trees hard and lots of layups
But she will move out as far as the track will take her.
She hunts good with hounds and can work a cold track with them. She is a little tight mouth on a cold track.

Sneakyone,
I don't own the little cur female. My hunting buddy Robert Tompkins does. I can give you his number if you want.

I think she is registered with UKC as "Treeing Cur".

She has had one litter of pups. Some of them sure made excellect coon and squirrel dogs
