big Game Blueticks and English
Would like to hear from houndsmen who have hounds that excel on big game. Please no hot track bait pile hounds. Rig dogs, cold nose, pick up their head and line out a track. Jump dogs, hair pullers. Stay put tree hounds. I mean the real deal. No run the tree wearing themselves out type hounds(sit down or stand on the wood ). I would like to talk to the folks who would not sell there hounds and breed for themselves mostly. If you have hounds that can strike off the rig and don't waste alot of time searching for the track etc. etc.. Run to catch and Kill type hounds. If you have the hound or hounds to brag about let me hear it. I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing from you. I do not expect to hear from many as this is alot to ask.

I think you just about eliminated everybody. There aren't that many hunters with perfect hounds. Good luck finding them, and who says tracks off baits are always hot anyway?

out of 8 i might have maybe 2 or 3 good ones rest are pack dogs. i have one dog that will do it from rig to tree when all else fails he pulls through. he does mess up sometimes runs a hot one backwards but also runs them to catch when he lines out hes gone. he also chews all the branchs off and saplings around the tree. was only out run maybe half a dozen times from training to kill season. this dog will run with the best of them

HUNT THE BEST WALKRERS !!!!
Thats pretty much the only way i hunt my dogs is strike off the rig till mast crop comes around in the fall then i walked them alot. I have 3 in my yard that i wouldnt sell. They strike, run hard to catch, and tree good. They have enough grit for me anymore and i would have vet bills i dont need.Ive had a couple of litters the past few years and have had some above average dogs. I breed mostly for my self to try and keep what i have and always have a couple of youngs ones coming up through the ranks.Mine are not perfect by any means they screw up just like all the rest, But i wouldnt trade um.I only hunt bear with them try to run a bobcat once or twice a year if i can find a track.

You probably won't ever "hear from these guys" on this board but I will tell you...I hunted with some super nice bluetick beardogs this past season. Not sure if you know Ron Ferguson or Steve Hurd from the Unity NH area but imo they have the real deal when it comes to blueticks. Steve has one of the nicest bluetick females (Brook) that I have ever been to the woods with and Ron has a super nice male. (They just made a cross between the two). I personally witnessed everything from the truck to the tree. From what I saw, you can't do much better, jmo. wd
DogfaceNH..... I live in WV and have enjoyed several hunts with Ron and Steve and I know they have some nice hounds. IF you are talking about Rons Blade dog that was a good cross. My son has a littermate to him and there is a couple other guys here that have made good bear dogs or coon dogs out of that cross. One boy started hunting his in the night hunts and made it a nite champion in just a few hunts. I Think Ron is coming down this way tomorrow to do some rabbit hunting.

Yeah Blade is the dog I've seen go, he's a good one. The pups out of him and Brook should be just as nice. Yup I knew Ron was headed your way to run some bunnies, that's awesome. Merry Christmas. wd
