Fox's or Deer
I see a lot of guys trash breaking off deer, but luckily thats not a problem I've had so far. I have sold 2 dogs that would not stop running fox, to people that wanted fox dogs. I think I'd rather not have a fox runner, but would take the deer runner. There are so many deer out in the fields, deer breaking is very simple, but breaking a fox runner is another story....It can take a good night and make it a night where you wonder why you even mess with hounds..lol.
Oh yeah..but that is a part of it!

I just give away the ones I have had that run deer, or fox.
Too much hassel to try to break them, and you are never able to enjoy the hound. Every time it strikes a hot track, your wondering what the hounds running.
Just too much trouble. The ones that are trashing on tree game, now thats a different story. Those are the kind of hounds I like.

Plenty of fox pens in the state of Va., great place to break a dog from running a fox.

just push that button it works.it is easey to tell when dogs run deer or fox.break them by there sealf then put the dog in a pack that is running off to get him to run again then push that button again but it helps if you know how to use a shock coller write and the dog needs the rite contioning to the coller befor it is used on a dog.GOOD LUCK AND SOME DOGS CAN NEVER BE MADE 100 PERCENT STRAIT BECALS SOME OF IT IS BREAD IN THEM
Dean,
I got invited to a fox pen next weekend...This is something new to me, ...Lord knows I dont need another hobby that involves dogs(I have deer, rabbit, and coon dogs). But, I am looking foreward to seeing how fox hounds work.
thats part of it but i would rather a dog run a deer than a fox or a bobcat

Some of them hard going junk runners, make outstanding track hounds once you get the junk under control.
The fox and coyote hunters call these type dogs GAME. Thats a word we've lost in coonhunting circles....Gamey. I want a young hound that is Game enough to get out there and get something shaking, Run Junk once and then they wear the collar everytime They go to the woods.
Also, Too many guys dont know what them dogs are running, and thats why they are scared of the collars. Some of them ruttin' boars will make you scratch your head once in a while, and if you ever get a hound that can flat blister a coon track, they will also make you scratch yo, head from time to time.
I have given away a many a dog that will flat burn up a deer.
I have gained alot of hunting ground by taking the land owner hunting, and turning loose in front of a deer herd.
I dont want to screw that up with a dog I have to worry about.
