Need advice- starved dog

Got Molly back this morning. She'd been gone 3 weeks, stuck on a ledge in a quarry. Coulden't go up or down. If she haden't been fat she'd be dead. Anyway, I'm giving her one can of food every hour today & will start on one can mixed with dry tomorrow. I'm afraid if I give her too much she will kill herself. What do ya'll think of the plan?

Give her boiled rice and chicken breasts for a couple days to a week. If you can find it you can add Esbilac 2nd stage also. It's for weaning pups. But it has vitamins in it etc and that will help her out bunches.

Also, if you can get some dog electrolytes from the local feed store then put that in her water. That will help replace what she lost.

You're going to overload her system with that much food that often. Feed her like you'd feed a pup....three times a day. Make it soupy since she was deprived water also. After a few days then you can add soaked dog food and slowly get her on her normal feeding schedule.

I'm hoping you took her to the vet and had her checked out.

I've done the same thing with rescue dogs that were nothing but skin and bones and had them fit and healthy.

Glad you found your dog.

Thanks everyone. We are headed to the vet this afternoon. She's a tough old dog & I think will be fine. She will love those livers breasts & rice.

Follow plottluvrs instructions. Also make sure she is drinking plenty of liquids while your building her up.

Glad Molly is home and safe... how fortunate you guys found her! Good luck with the weight gain. Slow and steady and she'll be as good as new. Bet she is REALLY happy to be home. Gotta love a HAPPY Ending!
