De-worming question
I have a year old redbone about 40LBS who has been getting hunted about 3-5 nights a week. I feed her Retriver Hi-energy dog food I think it same as Black Gold 26-18. Any way she doesnt have any worms in her stool but she seems a little skinny. I usually use Ivermectin in the liquid form but my remeber my buddy giving his dog a horse paste that he bought at Tractor Supply but I can't get in touch with him to figure out what kind. So I bought Horse Health Equine Ivermectin Paste 1.87%. Does anyone know if this is the right kind and how much should I give her. It says Removes Worms and Bots and its a Anthelmintic and Boticide.
Thanks for your help

Zimectrin GOLD, It must be the gold. It will get rid of tapes too.

More than likely it is not worms I have a male that is really skinny. Been wormed to the vet and eats lots of top grade dog food nothing wrong with him is just a skinny dog. Gets hunted alot and runs the kennel.
Not trying to sound smart but if shes getting more hunting than she was and with the colder temps and all you may have to increase her feed some to keep her body weight up. Plus at a year old shes still growing and filling out some. Just a thought. It's hard with some to get enough in them in one feeding but if they happen to be picky eaters it's hard to keep their weight up.

Put her on a selffeeder.... problem solved

I have a female that I can't keep weight on. I feed her twice a day and each feeding she gets twice as much as the other dogs get and they only eat once a day. I have wormed her and had her to the vet and nothing is working. She looks pitiful and starved half to death. She is constantly circling in her kennel and always has.

Check your local butchers or call around, try to find some Tripe (lining on a cow's stomach)....It is GREAT stuff and aids in the digestion of their food. It may help! I know a guy out in IA who coonhunts and yote hunts his dogs and he feeds this a couple times a week to keep their weight up.

I have always used Ivamectricin and my dogs have never had any type of worms. I think like some on here she is filling out and you may need to check the feed you are feeding. If it doesn't have meat of some kind as the first ingredient than more than likely it is corn. Corn based feed can have the same prot. and fat as a high end feed but will not stick with the dog like a meat based feed will.
