Oldest papers that are layin around the house?
I have a set of papers on a blue dog that my grandfather's brother Russel Vanover owned back in the 1940's. The birthdate of the dog is September 22, 1947.

I don't have any old papers myself, but last year I met a man from MS that has papers on a B&T from the mid 40s and the pedigree was all hand writen. He showed me the papers and it was a real treat to see something so old, that had been passed around so much, still in such good shape. Pretty cool... JMO

If the price of that "Coon Dog" sounds too good to be true, it probably is....
He was a very good dog. He was field trial stock. I think I have a picture of him and my grandfather if u would like to see it, I will try to post it.

I saw some wonderful documents and photos at UKC's 50th anniversery hunt this Fall at Ingraham, Illinois. One fellow, Emil Stanfield, hunted and showed in the first UKC hunt and hunted and showed in the 50th Anniversery hunt. Now, that's real history!

I know it isnīt that old but the other day I found the papers of a great Hammer Bluetick my dad owned in the 70īs. He was out of Hammer III , this was one of my dadīs best dogs, he always talks about him even though he died young (around 3).
Take care.
I've got some Stephens Stock Cur papers from the early 70's that belonged to my dad. I enjoy getting them out every now and then and remembering my dad.

I do that with a lot of my grandfather's papers from around that time. We have papers from a dog named Vanover's Chief(born March 3, 1965), which was out of House's Chief and a Great Grand-daughter of Shetler's Sonny Boy. My grandfather's first registered dog was out of Merchant's Bawlie and Merchant's Lou(daughter of a multiple world champion named Incredible Rock). The dog's name was Vanover's Bawlie Jr.(born April 4, 1961). Pap payed $100 for him, and he would soon realize that this pup was worth every penny of it. He was offered $900one night for the dog back in the 60's and the next night $1,000, but did not sell him. I still have the letters that Mr. Merchant sent him when Pap was interested in buying a pup. Later, that pup got killed on the railroad tracks and he bought a pup out of the same cross but different litter, named Vanover's Little Fanny(born October 25, 1965). He bred her to the son of House's Chief and kept a dog named Vanover's Tim that was a real nice hound that got stolen when he was about 14 months old. I also have a set of paper's on a daughter of Finley River Sport(Finley River Pete x Duvall's Lone Pine Lady), named Vanover's Sue(born May 19, 1973). Also, I have a set of papers on a female named Vanover's Texas Babe, out of Norman's Coon Stopper and a female out of House's Bawlie, born Aug 26, 1969. Another set of paper's I have is on a female named Vanover's Little Judy that was a great grand-daughter of Johnson's Banjo. The next set of Paper's I have is on a male dog named Vanover's Tenn. Dan(born April 7, 1978) which is out of Pratt's Tenn. Jim and Vanover's Sue. I also have a set of paper's on his daughter which is named Vanover's Judy II(Vanover's Tenn Dan x Vanover's Dixie), born March 2, 1987. Her mother was named Vanover's Dixie, she was out of Lansdown's Smokey(Finley River Joe x Tramble's Sweet Thing) and Vanover's Little Judy, she was born May 22, 1981. Another set of paper's of my grandfather's are on a male dog that is Van's Finley River Buster(born June 4, 1968), he was out of Johnson's Finley River Buck(Claxton's Finley River Spot x Cather's Ozark Dolly)and Vanover's Little Fanny. The last set of paper's of my grandfather's was on a female dog named Hendrick's Bell(born August 15, 1960), he was out of Merchant's Bawlie II(Merchant's Bawlie x Dolan's Tenn. Jude) and R&J's Susie(Triple T Gen. Ike x Triple T Beauty). Alot of those dogs are still in our bloodlines today.
The other two sets of paper's were owned by Pap's brother, Russell Vanover. They are english coonhounds named Minnesota's Blue King(born May 1, 1946), and Vanover's Blue born sometime in January of 1958(all I have is his bill of sale).

I still have some papers in a box that are from dogs welped in the 70s and 80s......mostly just puppy papers i never sent in, but there are a few perm registrations and 3 gen pedigrees.....
i even have 1 or 2 sets that list Kelly Stagner as the breeder :/
I have an old set of papers from 1956. Dad's first registered dog. A Bluetick from Warren Hausler out of Smokey River Blue Sandy and Smokey River Blue Dazy. These dogs where third generation Blueticks.
I have papers from every generation from 1956 to now. It is great to look back on all those dogs that Dad and I have had for almost 60 years. I have some that can be traced all the way back to our original Blueticks.
