Lost a good one last night

GR NT CH Jim's Red Amber died sometime last night, from chronic ehrlichiosis. She has battled this illness since she was a two year old. I noticed she didn't feel well on Wednesday night, she didn't hunt out like normal but still treed two coons. I started her on Doxy as I have several times and expected she would feel better in a few days, she didn't eat last night so I was going to take her in for a check up today, but she didn't make it. I'm in a little bit of shock because I didn't realize she was near that sick.

My wife purchased her for me as a Christmas gift from Mark Zepp 6 years ago after watching "Where the Red Fern Grows". She was a joy to own, she hunted in 21 cast, winning 15 of them mostly as a one and two year old in UKC, $kc and C#kc. She will be missed.

Wow, this is awful news. I lost a good one to tick disease a few years ago. Tick prevention has become a real priority for me these days. Sorry for your loss Jim.

Sorry to hear you lost a good one. I'm sure it's an empty feeling.
Our 8 year old GRNT Flow was diagnosed with Ehrlichiosis this summer. After 28 days of Doxy, so far she's been doing real good. I'd like to talk with you about Ehrlichiosis. I'll send you a PM.

Sorry for your loss, just about everyone I know has or are battling a tick disease, even with tick prevention myself and other here in area, I was lucky with Jezzie.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and comments she really was a special dog to me. Amber only had one litter by Turkey, I had a couple of crosses in the works for the future when she died. I really regret not getting those done sooner in her life, you just never know.

Mark her sister looks a lot like her, yours color is a little darker red. One of my Buddies has a litter right now off of the female we picked up from you out of Jenny and Big Red Jim, I may have to give one of those a try. Thanks again for giving me the opportunity to own her.
