Rock River hounds??

I used to read Alot more on Franks bloodlines. Anybody still running them with success? Or are they to honest of a hound to make it these days:-))

.

Two sides of the coin here.
1. They are the winningest bloodline ever known to mankind.
2. In the wrong part of the country and with the wrong handler--They put the word SLICK in slick treeing.

Note: I said wrong part of the country and wrong handler. I said nothing negative about this line of hounds or anything to discredit the line of dogs. You just have to know the bloodline your dealing with and handle it to bring out the qualities in them.

One of the best females I ever owned had a lot of Rock River Breeding. Many to the top winning walkers have this blood in their pedigrees somewhere.

I've got a female that has alot of rock river breeding. She is a smaller built female but she has her coons I would say 80 percent of the time. She will slick tree but only after she's been layed up for a while. She will tree a opossum occasionally but not many. Tight mouth on the ground and loud tree dog. She seems to speed up as the night goes on. Most of the ones I've had start off hot and slow down as the night goes on, but she starts out a little slower and gets better the more drops u make.

DJ McCombs does his share of winning with a Rock River hound he owns wifh Frank. I believe the dog is called Son off of the RR Max dog that got killed on the road. Frank ain't no spring chicken any more and my guess is he doesnt push the promotion of his line as much any more simply because he's tired of that game. I think he still hunts hard, just doesn't walk as fast. He never did walk fast.

The one I have is priceless to me. If I competition hunted you would see his name in the winning circle (with the right handler of course).
I've tossed around the idea of selling him but with his breeding not being the "in"thing right now i doubt I'd be able to reason selling.
Unfortunately I guess you get to many back yard breeders (and trainers) you can make and give anything a bad name. It's too bad they are getting known for slick treeing idiots.
Well Im glad I've got an accurate one. And he's only getting better.
God Bless

A sales pitch ah Maybe a little but more of a feeler on the booodlines are at in the Ukc world. Yes sackett jr. is huge part of a lot of lines.and of mine but If I were selling I'd promote more of the "tell sackett" and "Cord" in this particular hound.
When it comes to selling a dog when your out of the coon belt the breeding does matter and reflects who may be interested. And the price
Truly more than anything I was curious why you didn't see much Rock River in the spotlight and I believe I've gotten my answer.
Thank you all!! Happy Hunting

There is a bit of the Rock River Blood following in the two dogs I have at the house.

Rock River

Did the Rock River dogs ever win any big hunts ?

Posted by Bruce m. Conkey on 04-04-2017 11:11 AM:

.

When you talk about Rock River Hounds I assume your talking about Sackett, Jr. then Cord and Rat Attack out of Sackett, Jr. has to be included. The list is actually endless and in about every bloodline out there today somewhere. One person that seemed to know how to take all that tree power and harness it into hounds that have become some the winningest in the South is Mike Carroll with the Slow Talking Dogs. I am not giving all the credit to the rock river dogs but they are in the pedigree and are part of the winning ways of the Slow Talking Dogs.
