Leasing females

I've never done this before or know anyone who has.. What's the going rate on leasing a good female to breed... How does it usually work? May try it if its not to much hassle...

I just payed the female owner 500.00 but not until she raised at least 5 pups to weaning age. All pups were mine and sold.Be careful when filling out the reg. papers you will show buying whole litter from her owner.

Simple economics...
You have 1/2 of the equation and female owner has 1/2. Just figure up what the pups should sell for and split the money.
8 pups X $400 = $3,200. Now subtract $200 for paperwork and give female owner $1,500.

$1500 seems high to me to lease a female.. You could buy one for that or a little more plus who raises the pups there are plenty of expenses there also.. Not criticizing just talking.. Thanks

Laws of supply and demand can come into play also. How bad do you want to breed your stud and raise a litter of pups off of him? How bad does the female's owner want a litter of pups out of her? What is the female worth? Is she a $1,500 female or a $4,000 female? Are you going to get $4,000 ($500 ea) or $1,600 ($200 ea)?
The 50/50 split is actually just a fair starting point. Negotiations can continue from there.

I leased one 6 years ago for 2 pups. I am leasing a female out this spring, for nothing, to someone I trust. I leased a female out 3 years ago, again for nothing, then never saw her again.
All I ever asked was to bring her back in the same condition she left in. Make sure all bases are covered. When I leased Izzy's mom, I took her back in great shape. Izzy is being leased by a good friend I totally trust. The female I never saw again, I asked for 14 months to get her back to me. Finally was offered money to buy her. Still think she died having pups. Be honest, take great care if her. Cover every base.
Personally, unless I know and trust you, I would never do it again.

Simple. It's just the best deal you can work out with the owner of the female. If you can't make a satisfactory deal get on here and advertise for a deal on the type female you are wanting. Might be suprised.

Me personally if I didn't think enough of the stud dog to want to breed to him I sure wouldn't lease my female out so she could have pups that I don't have faith in.

Some people have a nice female but just don't want the hassle of raising and selling a litter of pups. If they already have a couple out of their female to start, you might be able to "entice" them into letting you raise a litter. The problem is finding that person and then figuring out the right "enticement". It is kinda like trying to find someone with a really nice hound and then trying to buy it.

In my opinion the female is what sales the pups. Sky the limit on the right female. You Abby, Georgia Cyclone,Pearl,Allens little queen, Mckissick Creek Tabitha, and a few more. What would it be worth to lease them.
