-- How would you score this (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928412131)
How would you score this
Dog A,B,and C-- Dog A strikes while dogs B and C go 800 yards and loop around to the left,Dogs Band C haven't said a word. Dog A sounds like it 's trailing to the left 300 yards, We here all dogs in the same are but only one dog is tree as we get about 200 yards but I heard another dog bark a few times. We go into the tree, Dog A ,B,and C have caught a coon but dog c is the type once it's dead she hasn't anything to do with it so she is the one that has showed us the tree 5 feet from the dogs A and B but there is nothing up there. She is not the type to tree slick . I'm thinking that was the tree that they pulled the coon off of but not sure. How would you score this? This is on a pleasure hunt by the way.

She's minused bad break.
I maybe wrong but treed dog should be minused because its not showing treed and if all dogs are struck in each one should get plus.
I hunted in a rge in Ohio several years back and this is how the judge handled it.
Dogs A and B would get their strike points plussed and dog C would get minused strike and tree if the tree is slick.
Well first I would need more information as I don't completely understand your original post. You said Dog A was the only dog struck. You said as you walked you could hear other dogs marking but you never determined what dogs you heard barking. So was dogs B & C ever struck in? You also said one dog was treed but you never explained was it dog A, dog B, or dog C?
If dogs B & C WERE declared struck, they will get their strike points (only) plussed. If dogs B & C were not declared struck but were found to have been opening, they would be awarded their strike points and minused for failure to have declared their dog struck on or before the third bark. If any of these dogs were DECLARED treed, that dog's tree points would be deleted as no tree points can be awarded for catching coon on the ground. If no dog was DECLARED treed then there is no issue with tree points. unless someone in your cast asked for the stationary rule to be applied prior to you going in to the tree.
If all dogs were declared struck and treed, Dogs A & B would get their strike points (only) plussed and their tree points deleted, dog C would get its strike and tree points minused if it stayed on they tree that you feel the coon may have been up. Not because you think that is where the coon come from but because you have to score it as you see it when your ears cannot determine the difference from where dog C is treeing and dogs A&B are chomping on this dead coon.
I hope my hillbilly explanation helps you some, LOL!! Good Hunting!

Dogs A, B plus strike, delete tree. Dog C minus both ways. Bad brake for dog C.

A and B= plus strike...... C is minus both ways.

I think the rule says all dogs in area to receive plus points on caught coon and nothing on tree unless in place of refuge. I see why everyone says minus C but I'm not sure it's right in this situation
patches9452
patches9452, Thats the way i interpreted the rule to because you can't fault a dog if when they have killed the coon and once it's dead one will not mess with it any more. I agree with you.

"A dog, even though declared treed cannot receive plus or minus tree points for game caught.
"once it's dead one will not mess with it any more."
I wouldn't suggest you use this argument...your own words "not mess with it any more" suggests that the dog should not have been treed when in fact it was. Isn't treeing the tree the coon was probably pulled out of "messing with it"???? In this case though it doesn't matter...the rule and it's interpretation are clear.
Rule 4 g.
If that was a possum laying there would you take the scratch?
I would minus the dog under rule 4g
