Alpha

If your starting out to see if your going to like coon hunting you can pick up a used 220 cheap. If you know this is what you want to do then go ahead and get alpha you want regret it. Cost more but cry once and bite the bullet. Be sure to get birdseye with it the shock collar and tracker on one collar is nice. Nice features over the other garmins touch screen is better no buttons . Extra collars are pricey but just the game we play today .

if you plan on competition hunting you can't have the GPS unit on you while you hunt if you lose your dog would have to go to truck to track your dog because of the shocking portion of the collar I just stick to the 220 or320 If your not competition hunting I would get it lot less to where and keep up with

Garmin

You can't use it in hunt? But can run 220 or320? Why. AlphA want shock unless you have satellite signal so you would have it on before you could do anything there for not scoring your dog ?

can you have your shock controller with you during a hunt? If you say yes rules are interpreted different here if I'm wrong about the Alfa sorry but the guys at ukc spoke at battle of the breeds last year and the Alfa you could not have with you during the hunt might make a call to them

You have to leave the alpha handheld in the truck.I believe I heard they were going to discuss this further at autumn oaks.I love my alpha.1 collar convenience and better signal.

Rule 20 back of score card. Any person caught using any devise used to control or locate dog during hunting time, will be barred indefinitely. GPS locating device may be turned in the on position during hunting time but only if transmitters is left in vehicle . TRANSMITTERS FOR ELECTRIC TRAINING COLLARS MUST BE LEFT IN VEHICLE AND MAY NOT BE USED BY HANDLER OR SPECTATORS UNTIL DOG WEARING DEVICE IS SCRATCHED and all other dogs are recovered for recasting

Garmin

Not saying your wrong get what you say. But you carry your 220 or 320 with you on a hunt off right ? If its on then your rounding dogs up so your not scoring. So if the alpha has to have signal to track or shock don't see there view your thoughts ? Just got one that sucks lol. Sorry for jacking this post. They are nice units.

I can carry my GPS just can't have it on unless we're on time out What I'm sayin is if I lose my dog I don't want to have to go back to my truck and get my alpha while my hour is runnin if you don't competition I will explain if your dog is out of hearing gets caught by the 8 min. And they call time out you have one hour to catch your dog and return to the cast it is nice to have my unit on me turn it on and find your dog
